HIVE OPEN MIC WEEK 135|THEME :FIGHT OPPRESSION|REDEMPTION SONG BY BOB MARLEY(COVER)
Hello friends! I welcome you to the 135th week with a very Unique and important theme which is "Fight Oppression".
Although, generally, oppression means an unjust treatment especially from one in power or authority, it also according to Google search, means mental pressure or distress. In life, we face various kind of oppressions almost everyday from work, family, government, businesses and so on... Our first instinct is to fight it. Probably because are created with a good sense and desire of freedom and when that freedom is infringed, our first instinct is to fight it no matter the cost.
When I was reflecting on this theme, it occurred to me that we cannot effectively fight external oppressions that come from different areas of our life without first of all fighting the inner self oppression which comes in forms of depression, not beign confident, doubts, insecure, mood swings, not being contented with the little we have and so on...
We need to emancipate our self from mental slavery and that is when we can be really free in our minds, and capable to fight for external freedom from oppressions.
So in response to the theme I have chosen to sing a very Legendary song titled "Redemption Song"by a legendary Musician "Bob Marley". The song highlights the importance of fighting for freedom from oppression but most importantly we have to achieve that freedom in our minds.
I hope you find some message in this perspective of the theme and I also hope you enjoy the song.***
Original Song
Old pirates, yes, they rob I
Sold I to the merchant ships
Minutes after they took I
From the bottomless pit
But my hand was made strong
By the hand of the Almighty
We forward in this generation
Triumphantly
Won't you help to sing
These songs of freedom?
'Cause all I ever have
Redemption songs
Redemption songs
Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery
None but ourselves can free our minds
Have no fear for atomic energy
'Cause none of them can stop the time
How long shall they kill our prophets
While we stand aside and look? Ooh!
Some say it's just a part of it
We've got to fulfill the book
Won't you help to sing
These songs of freedom?
'Cause all I ever have
Redemption songs
Redemption songs
Redemption songs
[Guitar break]
Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery
None but ourselves can free our mind
Wo! Have no fear for atomic energy
'Cause none of them-a can-a stop-a the time
How long shall they kill our prophets
While we stand aside and look?
Yes, some say it's just a part of it
We've got to fulfill the book
Won't you help to sing
These songs of freedom?
'Cause all I ever had
Redemption songs
All I ever had
Redemption songs
These songs of freedom
Songs of freedom

A very nice version of "Redpemption song" I was going to sing this one to but I decided to try "Exodus" instead. I have learned "Redemption song" these last couple of days and I will likely post my version in the music community sometime this week.
I love what you have done with the intro here, your own take on the classic Bob Marley riff , its very cool.
Well done bro , I had a strong feeling at least one person would play this song for the "Fight Oppression theme"
Oh dear friend @celticheartbeat I am so happy and grateful for your compliments on my performance, indeed I felt very elated reading these words and it serves for me as a great motivation to do better.
I also thought that some persons will present this song because of its message and connection to the theme of fighting oppression!
Thanks again!!!

Concuerdo con las palabras que mencionaste al principio y que son parte de la letra de la canción, hay que emanciparse mentalmente! Solo así seremos libres.
