Honestly, I love when we have certain themes around which we choose songs or compositions in Hive Open Mic weekly events. However, this week brought a question mark for its topic. Does this mean that it is a surprise, free theme, or that each of the participants will surprise us with a song we would not even think of, in their own choice? In my case, it will be choosing a composition that I guess you’ve never heard of. More precisely, not even for a composer.
As the first information, I will let you know that the composer is Isidor Bajic. He was a successful Serbian composer (1878 –1915) actually, at that time the region was under Austro-Hungarian Empire. He wrote down folk and Serbian church melodies and used them in his compositions for piano, choral works and songs. He founded a music school (now very reputable) in Novi Sad in 1909.
The song you have listened to is a lullaby, as you could already see from the title. It is originally written for piano and voice, for his son Vladimir. It is slow, as lullabies have to be, and has a sweet melody with simple accompaniment. I recorded it this morning in the same music school where I played my entry two weeks ago. Sorry for the quality, in few weeks it will be again the usual way of recording the audio for my videos.
I'd like to hear some piano and voice version of this. I hope youtube will grant it to me. Thank you for giving us this excellent participation and for expanding our repertoire by introducing us to this composer.
@Nancyq, we should do this one day... 😅
Yes, I think it is a different style. He was a composer from the romanticism period but with that folclor elements from this area. I can send you the music score (and of course how to pronounce the words :D ) so you could sing it and Nancy play the piano part :)
Thank you so much for your comment @jesuslnrs and @familia.linares ☺️

I like the way you run with this week's theme: ?. A mystery song, with a mysterious composer. That's fun. Sounds pleasant, of course, and entirely new to me too. I like this visual angle, with all of these perspective lines pointing to your hands.
Yeah, I felt that question mark as a mistery 😅

A very nice and sweet piece of music, even ideal to listen to at night before going to sleep ;). A big hug @mipiano.
Hehehe, yes, a lullaby that can serve me now and as here is midnight already... I could listen to it now hehe and go to sleep. Bye my dear @musicandreview , enjoy your Saturday and the whole weekend 😃
Acertaste!!
How good my piano! It's a soft and upbeat song and your performance for me was fun and mischievous.
I apologize I was a bit occupied.
I was a little late but I sat in a corner among the others to enjoy the performance you are giving us this week
What a beautiful way to interpret this piece, I did not know it but it is so pleasant to listen, so much peace and satisfaction that it causes to hear it. Thank you for always bringing these wonderful works.
