Today I have the immense pleasure of presenting one of my favorite songs for many, many years. It is a song that is not originally in salsa rhythm, but even so several versions have been made with those tropical rhythms.
It is a song by the Cuban singer-songwriter Pablo Milanés, for me one of the best there has been in a long time, who was part of the movement that became known as the Nueva Trova Cubana. The original title of this song is "Canción" ("Song"), however it has become known among many people as "De qué callada manera" ("In what a quiet way").
Among the salsa versions, the one I liked the most was the one recorded by the Venezuelan singer Tania, together with the great Puerto Rican singer Andy Montañez. However, it was impossible for me to get that track. I have it on my Korg i30 keyboard, but this one is in intensive care.... (Or rather, it should be there). So I decided to sing it with the arrangement made by one of the great salsa orchestras of Puerto Rico, the Sonora Ponceña.
And this is my participation for the Hive Open Mic, in its 70th week. (It seems incredible how fast time goes by).
Hoy tengo el inmenso placer de presentarles una de mis canciones preferidas desde hace muchos, muchos años. Se trata de una canción que originalmente no es en ritmo de salsa, pero aún así le han hecho varias versiones con esos ritmos tropicales.
Se trata de una canción del cantautor cubano Pablo Milanés, para mí uno de los mejores que ha habido en mucho tiempo, quien formó pate del movimiento que se dio a conocer como la Nueva Trova Cubana. El título original de este tema es "Canción", sin embargo se ha dado a conocer entre mucha gente como "De qué callada manera".
Entre las versiones de salsa, la que más me ha gustado, fue la que grabó la cantante venezolana Tania, junto al gran cantante puertorriqueño Andy Montañez. Sin embargo, me fue imposible conseguir esa pista. Yo la tengo en mi teclañdo Korg i30, pero este se encuentra en terapia intensiva... (O mejor dicho, ahí debería estar). Así que decidí cantarla con el arreglo que hizo una de las grandes orquestas de salsa de Puerto Rico, la Sonora Ponceña.
Y es esta mi participación para el Hive Open Mic, en su semana 70. (Parece mentira lo rápido que pasa el tiempo).
