@Beccatessy food shop introducing myself.

About myself

An entrepreneur, a wife and a mother. A graduate of History and education at Lagos state University in Nigeria.
My name is Mercy Iyere, from Edo State, southern Nigeria. I'm the last of four children of my mother with 3 siblings,(two boys and a girl).

My parents got divorced when I was 2years, my mom had to sponsor our education.she was a teacher in a private school and also does extra lessons for some kids at home to earn extra money in order to be able to take care of her kids.she was able to send us to a private school for our primary education. She couldnt keep up with the private school so she sent us all to a government secondary school.i and my brothers got to know our dad when we got to secondary school...i was 15years old then.

My dad took my immediate brother and i to the village to complete our secondary education just because he does not want to have any encounter with my mom.i went to a borden school and my brother went to a government day school.my experience of borden school in the village was not a palatable one.i got to do hard labor whenever my seniors wants me to just because they were given authorities to punish anyone who disobeys them.Even if they are a class ahead of that person ,they get to punish as they wishes.

I was invited by my dad to come spend Christmas with his new family on 22nd of December 2008, and i went.on the 23rd of December, i was sitting with my dad in the compound of his home watching funny comedies on his phone and my step mom saw us from the window.she quickly sent for me and as i entered she closed the door behind me and beat me up.she got into a fight with my dad that night and i was sent back to the village on the 24th of december .it was a sad experience for me .

I came back to Lagos on my dad's request in 2009 after my secondary education .But to my surprise,my step mom wasnt there, they were divorced too. So i stayed with him till he got married again. And this woman changed as well after a year of marriage. Making me a slave and beating me up at every provocation.after gaining admission into the university in 2010, i couldnt keep ip with the maltreatment so i ran away from home and went back to my mom.I called and told him i was with my mom and so from that time on , he stopped paying my school fees.

I went into business after year 2 in school to assist myself through school.i sold shoes and necklesses, from one faculty to another, from one department to another. At my free time the only thing i do is to move aeound the school, selling jewelties and shoes, under the sun and in the rain just to make sure i can assist my mom in taking care of me in school. I started that business with some thrift money my mom gave me the . And my siblings also made sure i graduated from school. Infact they went to a polytechnic and acquired a diploma and i acquired a degree.

After school , I went for National Youth Service Corp ( NYSC) in the northern part of Nigeria which was essential for every university graduate in Nigeria. After a year of service , my dad called to apologize for all he has done and he said he didnt know that i eventually stayed in school, that he got to hear the news through someone that i was serving in the north. I forgave him .

I went to a fashion school to learn how to sew and in the process of learning I went into selling ready to wear African wears .was into that business from 2016-2017 when I lost my only maternal sister whom I loved dearly. Also my two brothers relocated to South Africa in 2017 and I was left alone here in Nigeria with my mom. I went to Peterkings college of Music for a year to learn the basic knowledge of music.

Got married 2019 and also got pregnant and had a premature baby at 7months...it was another phase of Life. She survived and was named TESTIMONY because it was a wonderful things, she is 5 years old now.Had my second baby 2021, this time it was a full term baby..I went into teaching from 2018- 2021.Had previous experience about teaching in school, taught both secondary and primary schools.

How I started @beccatessy food shop

After teaching for six years I needed to settle down and have more time for my family, that was how I started running a foodstuffs business.
I currently run a business where I sell food items like frozen foods, rice, oil mayonnaise, butter both in wholesale and retail. I started my business in a very small container, but in 2023 I got a bigger shop and expanded my business.

How I got to know about hive.

I got to know about hive through my customer @kachy2022, who comes regularly to shop at my store. She told me about #hive and explained the benefit of accepting hbd in my business. She invited @beauty197 a trusted local guide on hive to come and list my shop with the username @beccatessy and that's how my store became listed and I've been accepting hbd since then.

My experience with hbd

When @kachy2022 first told me about accepting payments in hbd, I was a bit skeptical about it and wondered how I would convert back the hbd to my local local currency. I was surprised when the trusted local guide helped me to convert the hbd into our local naira, that is when i became really convinced that it's a real deal.

Am finally here to create content, and join in the shopping project.
