My Introduction to Hive: The New-bee

Hello, everyone! How delightsome it is to be here!

Growing up, I'd be excited when there was a new person in class or my little social group. New meant unique, new meant different, sometimes strange. New made me curious.
Imagine your excitement meeting me now, yikes!!

My name is Fortune Anya-Nga from Southern Nigeria, Rivers state, (Yes! You are fortunate to meet me. I get that often. You can say it too)
Let's find out about me

BACKGROUND
Raised and bred in Western Nigeria, Lagos and Ogun state.
I was born in Ota, Ogun state, 6th of October.
Primary school was 'Patfort Schools'. Secondary schools were 'Solid rock model College' and 'Queen's College, Lagos'
Tertiary school, you guessed it, University of Lagos.

I never lived outside the West so you see I am more attune to the culture of it's people. For instance, 'Be sure to use your right hand when you are handing anything out especially to an elder because the right hand is the better hand'

First of four children (two girls and two boys), mother of none(for now). I have siblings and parents I love ever so deeply.

A part of my Family

WHAT I DO
As a little girl, being a Medical Doctor was my fantasy. It was for a lot of us in the sciences. Now that I think about it, it was about the work outfit. It was about the societal status. Anyway, I was little. I believe I would have found deeper meeaning as I grew.

Biomedical Scientist Me

I am currently a Biomedical Scientist (and for the life of me, we all dress alike in the healthcare profession, scrubs and coats alike). Being a Biomedical Scientist means keeping abreast with health information and outcomes, playing my role to ensure people are not diagnosed wrongly. Yes, diagnosis can go wrong resulting in not so pretty circumstances.
Check in with the good laboratories on a Doctor's instruction. It's so important.

Essentially, what being in the health profession has taught me is empathy and value for life. Seeing people sick or hearing the screams of a bereaved relative as you walk down the corridor of wards is heart wrenching.

Good health care professionals care. Good health care professionals want you to feel better. Health care professionals get stressed, sometimes burnout, sometimes are at risk of danger: assault from patients, handling infectious samples and people.
A shout out (okay maybe 'write-out' now) to every health care professional that comes across this.

THINGS I ENJOY
Books. Reading them make me feel good. They help you evolve in your mind.
I enjoy exposure to information that feeds my mind, takes me out of my world and give new perspectives. Fictional and non-fictional books are great reads depending on the intent on reading a book, however I am not the fictional girlie.

Music! Music intrigues me! I find pleasure learning about music. Melodies, harmonies, hearing them, making them. The beauty of being able to express a part of you, your heart, your emotions with music. The beauty of the unique timbre of every instrument and voice. For context, I am huge on edifying music and lyric. I get that listening to music that talk about the word of God. I love the intentionality that comes in making good music. I also like to listen and enjoy the symphony and creativity that comes from an orchestra. For the major part now, my voice is my musical instrument.

Speaking of voice, you perhaps send a voice message to someone and want to listen to the sound of your voice and then get cringe moments "Why do I sound like that?" I hear people don't always like to hear the sound of their own voice. Well I do and I don't. I have to because I voiceover. As a voiceover actor, you want to pass the right message, use the right inflection and emotion. So you are listening and relistening and retaking and retaking.
Really, it's fun. Voice acting is not just for people that sound like they speak Queen's English, voice acting is acting and comes in various niches

MY DISCOVERY OF HIVE
I found out about Hive through an awareness discussion with @talktofaith and @beauty197 went ahead to give the introductory workshop to us.

We spent some hive back dollar on food we purchased from Finicky restaurant. I can't wait to try other places with my new discovered mode of transaction. It's nice to have an alternative means of spending.

Thank you @talktofaith and @beauty197 for this opportunity. I think that Hive offers so much as a platform, from connecting with people, to expression, to spending rewards from spending HBD. I would have my fun around the blocks here expressing myself and being myself.

P.S.: Grown up, I don't particularly share the same sentiment of having a new person around but one thing I do, I do what I can to make you welcome even if it's a warm smile or a warm vote (wink)
