Last weekend was definitely a thrill. Despite how physically tired I felt after my first shokin experience at la Fresh Food and Bakery, guess who was craving some snacks, precisely meat pie and ice cream? You guessed right, ME!! How I love Food.
I had the pleasure of visiting Chicken Republic with my friend and accountability partner. Though a brief experience, I made some observations. Chicken Republic is quite a popular eatery in Nigeria. They used to be known for their crispy and juicy chicken and their affordable rates. Before last weekend, it's been a while since I visited the eatery, so I can't say for sure if that reputation is still intact.
Like I said, I went there with my friend, so you can be sure we used SpendHBD to get our orders. let us talk about the environment. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I knew I was in for a treat. The warm ambiance, complete with natural lighting and simple décor, immediately put me at ease. The aroma of freshly baked bread, ice cream, and all their many delicacies wafted through the air, teasing my taste buds and building my anticipation.
As we made our way to the counter, I couldn't help but notice the calm atmosphere. The restaurant was barely filled with patrons of all ages, each enjoying their meals and conversations. There was hardly any sound of clinking glasses or muted chatter which created a soothing atmosphere and made way for the background song to float through the room, making me feel like I was part of a special experience. The décor was simple. An arrangement of tables and chairs with a long walkway from the door straight to the counter divides the room into two. A really large show glass, making the space obvious to outsiders, and an AC in the room, making the air cool and chill.
We were first met by a young man who greeted us warmly, welcomed us to the restaurant, and asked for our order. I was impressed by the extensive selection of dishes, part of what caused our initial confusion. We kept asking for the prices of the different options like we had money to buy them all. The young man was patient with us, answering all our questions, after which he directed us to the payment stand where we could make our final decision and pay for it. After much deliberation, we landed back on our initial agreement: 4 meat pies {2 each} and a cup of ice cream. One meat pie cost 900 naira each while the cream cost 1200 naira for a small cup. PS: if you think I should have gotten more than that, just like my friend mentioned in her post, a HIVEFUNDME account would be a good idea, or better still, let's make those upvotes fly through the roof!!
As we waited for our order to be ready, we had a mini photo shoot. Or should I say, my friend had a mini photoshoot. Like the many we took at La Fresh Food, and Bakery wasn’t enough. Let's talk about someone who wears, eats, and drinks confidence cause she took a seat and made several poses just for her photos, and we were just there for takeouts. And despite how many stares she got, she was totally unfaced. A confident queen I stan.
Before long, our order was ready and packaged in a paper bag and then a plastic bag, and then our ice cream was packed in a paper cup. The aroma wafting from the packages was incredible, and I couldn't wait to take my first bite. I had to wait, though, because we made a stop at the office, After everything, I took my first bite, and boy, did my heart sing. I think the meat pie should be taken HOT! Asin HOT HOT!!. The ice cream was definitely CREAMYY. And I loved it. It had already started melting by the time we dug into it because of the stop we made, but it was still a nice treat.
I can't say which was better, spending HBD, getting a discount, the calm environment, the snacks, or just spending time with my friend. It was definitely an unforgettable experience.
