It's always intriguing to join in marketings especially when it comes to web3, hive or spendhbd.
So @beauty197 reached out to me on Saturday for us to visit Unilag (University of Lagos) for a spendhbd marketing.
Though We've been planning and re-strategizing after the last marketing we did, but we couldn't visit unilag all along because they were off campus, students were having lectures online.
They resumed back offline and started exams, so we decided to give it a shot.
We agreed over the weekend to visit on Monday which we did. Though i delayed a bit joining on time because of some challenges i had with my offline business over a waybill i did to another state which got missing.
I had to suspend all that to join @beauty197 for the SpendHBD marketing.
We areived at Moremi garden where there are usually inflocks of people sitted for different purposes.
We wanted to talk to them first, but on a second thought, @beauty197 suggested we talk to the owner of the popcorn shop in the garden so we can use his shop to experiment to the students while signing them up.
@beauty197 approached the porpcorn business owner and started introducing hive and SpendHBD to him, he saw it as an interesting thing to do, as he has knowledge of cryptocurrency and he loves cryptos. But he is more interested in stablecoins according to him.
But he had a major question which was a challenge to him and to us the promoters too.
His question was, "as the business owner, what does he stand to gain when people uses hive or SpendHBD to shop from his shop?".
We too couldn't answer the question because there was no bonus we were offering him as the business owner.
Another point he has was that he already have his customer base, he is not looking for customers because his popcorn is actually very nice. And if not that the school is not fully in session, we can't have the opportunity to talk to him for that long, because of the long queue of people that would have been standing to buy from him.
He opened his bank app and showed us how much the bank pays him as commission for people to do transaction with him through that particular bank.
So he said if we can guarantee him a benefit as the business owner, that he will start promoting hive and make sure his customers pays with hive through SpendHBD.
So @beauty197 had to take his contact and we promised to visit back if we have an answer to his questions.
After much deliberations, we couldn't signup the students because we needed a shop to practice for them to see.
We decided to go and come back later since it was already getting late and we had other engagements.
@beauty197 had to go catch up with her other engagements while i went back to the transport company i used in making a waybill of goods that got missing, to see if there could be a way for them to track it and provide my goods.
That was how our marketing went on Monday 16th March 2025.
I believe going back the next time, we would have more results than our previous marketings. This is because the people in unilag are more up to date with the global economy, i have attended web3 events there over and over again, so they would accept it wholeheartedly, but if it would also benefit their business.
So now, i agree with them 100%. The business owner shoould have something he would stand to gain for promoting hive and SpendHBD through their business. I feel it's something the SpendHBD team should look into.
