Autumn Is Here Again ..
Both joyful and sad memories are ushered in with the blink of an eye. I feel all the memories of loss and the tears that follow them. Without warning they come with a swiftness, and so does the frost. I awoke this morning to a chill in the air and a crispness surrounding my head. I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and took a long sip from my warm, fall themed mug. Peering out the back door with a bitter sweet feeling of anticipation, I had a good idea of what I had awoken to...
She didn't have to tell me.. Autumn Had Arrived
Sunday Morning Is Here ..
And I was ready for it. It had been a long week of change, new and stressful experiences, zoom calls, spreadsheets and meetings, meal planning, errand running, and routine cleaning, all blurring together. On Sunday, the residual thoughts of these pressures, although still present, settle toward the back of my mind. The hot coffee is steaming toward my nostrils and warming my soul with every sip. After seeing bits of the seasons first frost touching the new autumn day, I was in need of its comfort.
However, it's not just about the coffee, but rather the feeling that one thing is over and another is just beginning. Life continuing on without hesitation and not looking back. Around every turn I am reminded that change is inevitable and unstoppable. Bitter sweet indeed.
Autumn comes too soon
Touches Of Summer Still Linger ..
As I take my morning walk around the house, there seems to be lingering signs of summer around every corner. She's not willing to let go, but her grasp is growing weaker with the dawn of every new day. The touches of red that boldly stand forward from the bluish-grey shadows they cast, are what catch my eye and turn my head. If one listens carefully, summers fading voice can be heard whispering to our building emotions...
"Do not feel sadness, for my colors and warmth will return one day. For now I will gift you one last reminder of the beautiful times we shared."
But Autumn HAS Arrived ..
And she is felt.. Beneath my feet, I feel the light crunching of frozen dew at the tips of the long blades of grass. My cheeks are slightly blushed with the chill of crisp fall air. Wafts of burning wood float past my nose, as neighbors light their fireplaces to chase the morning cold from their homes. I see autumn spread along the ground in a blanket of white.
The first frost.. she's here now and I am aware.
Hints that fall has rolled in are everywhere.. A touch of color in the foreground to a sparkling waters edge. At first the diamond like flashes of light catch my eye, then I notice the early signs of change already taking place. Some smaller trees near the edge of the lake, are already turning shades of rich orange and rusty red. A prelude of what's to come.
With Summer Behind Us ..
And the lake to my back, I take it a little slower as I stroll back to the house. Again, I think of our little Pepper boy and how he would have been following close behind. He loved chasing the fallen leaves as they were tossed along the ground, between the light autumn breezes. It's the likes of those that bring tears to my eyes. But it is also those same memories that carry me safely from season to season. I will never forget those who we have lost, while in turn, I will never forget to cherish the memories we so carefully made this summer. After all, it's all we have to hold on to as time marches forward to bring more change.

Time To Reflect
Time To Absorb
Time To Be Less Burdened
And Of Course
Time To Spend With Those We Love

Gorgeous photography, I would love to hear and see the crunchy frost underfoot once again, alas we seldom venture inland to experience, something I do miss from my youth is the complete change we experienced.

So nice of you to tip me. Thank you! We often dream about moving to a place where we would not need to deal with the cold and change.. Although we would miss it dearly I think. Like they say, You never know what you got till it is gone!. lol.

Considering moving from our humidity during summer months I would be happy for change, inland out of the humidity belt. Have been looking at somewhere we could afford, and needless to say in South Africa somewhere one would feel safe!

I hear ya. I enjoy it but it's always sad to see summer end. I am anticipating a cold and snowy winter too. blahhh. lol
We only have two season here in Philippines the wet and dry season. Supposed to be it is a wet or rainy season this time but we are experiencing too much heat right now.. But every season gives us different feeling, different emotions and different lessons.

Yes.. The rainy season. I bet you need it but would rather not have it. The seasonal change is nice, but I do often daydream about a tropical climate like yours.

Yes, this year in particular has brought the feeling of loss in the autumn. I am sitting on another "anniversary" today, so feeling sad. But your autumn mug cheered me up. I had been looking for another autumn mug and yours is great!
The company that made the mug no longer is in business, otherwise I would point you in their direction. Yes, sometimes we associate sadness with the season closest to the loss.. I hate doing that, but it is almost impossible to avoid.
I bet Etsy has some cool fall themed mugs! I think I'm going to check that out myself.
I like the BIG mugs: preferably 22 oz, but have some 18 oz. That size is hard to find!
I just finally got around to getting my garlic in the ground yesterday. It definitely seems like the switch has been flipped! We woke up the other morning and it was 62 in the house. My wife said sorry, but I am turning on the heat! I probably should have mowed this weekend, but I am kind of waiting for more leaves to drop so I hopefully only have to do it once more.
Yeah, you did get a blast of cold from our friends up north. Our leaves just started to turn here. I would guess by the end of the month the roads will be covered with leaves. I only have a few trees on the property, so I don't sweat it. Finally got that garlic in did you. Glad to hear it! Hopefully you have something to look forward to next growing season.
yeah, I put the garlic in this past weekend. I was tired and busy, so I probably didn't do a great job of it, but it is in the ground. We will see what happens! Our leaves are starting to turn a bit. I am riding over to Wisconsin with my friend this weekend and I am hoping we will see some decent color on the trip.

Yeah.. First frost always comes out of no where it seems. I don't like scrapping it from my windshield in the morning.. that's for sure. That usually happens sometime in November here. Snow by December or January.. NOT looking forward to that either 😆
Yes I am not sure that many people enjoy having to scrape it off a windshield in the morning!
