When my brother and I were children, our parents took us to Cirque de Soleil when they came to our part of the world... and I remember that it was quite a stunning memory... such a wonderful mix of emotion and storytelling, with the circus acts woven into the narrative.
And so, when my wife and I were thinking about Christmas presents for the last Christmas, we came to the idea that we could take them to Cirque de Soleil in Sydney... I would be working the week afterwards, and so we would have travel and accommodation taken care of.
... and so, we arrived in Sydney... dumped our stuff at the airBNB, had a short break, and then headed out into the humid Sydney air to the Entertainment Quarter where I often am working in the nearby recording studio.
Getting in... well, we were a bit early... but I was a little bit worried that we would get delayed on the public transport. I always leave buffer travel time... and we were only about 10 minutes before the doors opened!
... and once you are on the inside, it is a pretty slick operation to get people to their seats and ready for the show to begin. Lots of interesting props already standing ready on the stage...
... and within a few more minutes, the entire place would be packed!
So... I didn't take any photos of the actual acts... I wanted to watch with my eyes, rather than with my phone. And wow... it was everything that I remembered.. a touching story, delivered with humour and emotion... and some stunning acrobatics, jugglers, and trick bike and ball people... and the stand out... a contortionist... and of course, amazing props as well... with a stand out water feature linking everything together!
Tickets to this event aren't exactly cheap... but when I was looking over at my two girls... leaning forward in their chairs with huge eyes drinking everything in. Completely worth every penny!!!
Hopefully they will treasure the memory as I did with my parents.

Awwwn that's so nice.
Circuses are places of wonder and delight...
Haven't been in one before but I've seen videos and I'm always left in awe
I remember taking my son to one of the travelling Cirque de Soleil. It was a while back I will have to see if he remembers it.
