Music has been a part of my life, since a weeeeeeee little kid.
As far back as I can remember, we had on some music.
Pop Music, Jazz, today's hits and oldies!
And on Sundays, the radio was tuned to Greek music.
Always... My folks always played something. And at Family gatherings and holidays, there was always a guitar, two, some drums, doumbegh, other percussion, always. Singing too.
Later, much, as my mom lost her ability to effectively communicate, or really remember much about her own self, we could always play music. I could pick her up, and take her for a drive... I would play oldies, 50's 60's 70's music, and she would know every word to every song and her foot bounced to the beat. She couldnt talk much, or remember who was who, but boy did she sing!
It didn't end with my parents tho... to this day, we always have music on. And my girls? 23 and 26? know the lyrics and beat for music from the 50's to today's hits. Every word, Every beat.
Beautiful! I feel like you've whisked me down your memory lane here, Greg. It's funny how when that happens the similarities in each life are as remarkable as the differences. 💛
indeed, there are remarkable similarities... I wonder, is music that universal language, bringing worlds apart, closer together?
