Memoir Monday #43. Expensive is relative

in Silver Bloggers5 days ago

Hello friends of the Silver Blogger community, this time I'm participating in proposal №43, by @ericvancewalton where he asks us: What is one of the most expensive things you've ever bought?

This topic has made me think a lot, because it is something relative, there are expensive things that, however, are worth less than we could imagine and other insignificant ones with a high price. It is often said that cheap is expensive, and it is also said that everything has its price. Sometimes paying high fees and medical expenses brings the achievement of health. Fortunately, in the past I had good insurance that minimized costs. Right now everything is expensive, that is how the economy is in my country.

Whether something is expensive or cheap depends on many factors, with age you learn to value more the good times, what you can get from what you bought, regardless of its real value. What I have done lately is that if I really like something and I really want it, I don't think about how much it costs, if I can pay for it I do it, and if not, I move on, but I add it to my waiting list of pleasures and satisfactions.

This is how, for example, a simple avocado may be expensive, but if I want to eat it I won't mind paying its price, because it is something I want. There are exotic fruits and some vegetables whose price is excessive, but I could pay for it, if I want to give myself that pleasure.

Yesterday, for example, I went out with my daughters and granddaughters to a coffee shop in the city center and I wanted to please them. I didn't think about the price, I could afford it and I did, and we had some delicious coffees and the girls ate ice creams. The coffee was really expensive but I paid for it gladly, because I was sharing with them and this is something that doesn't happen every day. After Christmas, I will travel to another city, and that price includes all the time we spent together, which was really very nice and will always be a good memory for them too.

When I bought a phone, I also tried to make it the best one, with a lot of capacity, because since I use it to work at Hive, I didn't want a cheap device that would then ask me to delete images or remove files. So I didn't mind paying the price of that phone, I saved up and prepared myself for it.

I bought a house, two cars, but I didn't do it alone. When you want something that can satisfy the needs of several people, working together as a team to achieve that goal becomes necessary. I don't feel that it was a huge personal expense, although it had a great economic value.

Everything in life has its price, it costs a lot to have the perfect partner, there is an investment of time, energy and feeling that can be very costly. Maintaining a family according to the patterns and beliefs that one has set can also be a significant expense. Going to the concrete, wanting a child to achieve his dream of being a musician, or a hobby, can generate extraordinary expenses, which as a mother I covered with joy.

I bought musical instruments intended only to make a son, who is enthusiastic about music, happy. I believe that the value of these expenses is not in the object purchased, but in the satisfaction it can give to whoever uses them. In conclusion, everything is relative, the important thing is to be happy.
