Spring is here for us finally. Yes, there is still a chill occasionally in the air, but the grass is green and growing. So much so that we have had to mow it twice already. With the spring and yard work comes landcaping improvements.
THe first and only project so far is improving the center piece to our front yard which is pictured above. The center piece covers where we used to have a tree. However, the tree had to be cut down because it was rottening. This left a major bare spot after that grinded the stump down.
When we intially put this center piece in, it was just thown down and none of the timbers were cut to size or pinned to the ground. We couldn't pin anything or size them and connect because the surface roots got in the way.
This weekend we finally got the surface roots cut out, timbers sized, connected, and pinned to the ground. We still need to fix the solar lights surrounding it that are set into the timbers and plant some more flowers.
We also had our handyman repair and patch up some rotting spots around the garage trim. It was too cold to paint today, but tomorrow the trim should get a fresh coat of paint and look good as new.
While all this was taking place, the wife mowed the back and side yards, as well as the neighbor's yard. Our neighbor is having health issues and can't mow their yard right now. Since we have a riding mower it was easy, but there were some spots that the riding mower couldn't fit, so it had to be pushed mowed.
All in all, we had a good day of yard work and looking forward to more landscaping work tomorrow and finishing up mowing the front yard once the landscaping out there is done.
It was nice to get out of the house for sometime in the sun, work with the handyman, who happens to also be a friend. We chatted here and there while working and shared stories. It was a relief.
I'll share pictures of all the finished work once it is finished in a future post.
Until then...
Thanks for reading,
Joe

It looks great, you guys put in some serious effort there this weekend. I'm sure the handyman helped out too! The big problem with spring is that lawn is going to need to be cut way too often.
Oh that is the old landscaping in the pic. I’ll be posting the new stufff in a day or two. Yeah the handyman is the friend, so he helped😀
It's heartwarming that you folks look after your neighbors like that! Kudos! 😊
Thanks we will try where we can.
Riding lawnmowers are great. Our gardens over here generally aren't big enough to warrant one, but I do use it to mow my mother in law's garden when we go back to visit Mrs T's family in Florida.
The centre piece will look pretty sweet once you get those flowers in. We have been absolutely glorious weather this last week or so. It stopped today though lol
Riding mowers make things so much easier for sure when it comes to a larger yard. I think it will look good as well. Not sure what the wife plans to plant in it besides the plant already there, but now doubt it will be pretty. Our weather here has been horribly rainy until the last couple of days. It is supposed to start back up again tomorrow too.
Wow, you must be about a month ahead of us there. I have some work I need to do in the front yard too and I need to get some more mulch this year. I brought home the travel trailer from my parents today. Need to get to work on that too!
Yeah, I noticed that the cold has still been holding on up your way. We need to get a little fill dirt for some spots in the yard and some mulch as well. Best of luck on that travel trailer, it will be that time soon.
Just about a month away now until our first trip!
Can’t wait to see the stories
Ah the beauty of having a big treen in our yard, while it could give us some shade, but when things go south and it rot, it also left a big work for us to get rid of them.
Love the nature witht he ggood and bad side of it isn't it?
Yes, we hated having to cut it down. I enjoyed watching the birds and squirells that thrived in and around it. However, once we learned it was rotting, we couldn't take the chance of it falling on the house.
