Pipes, Plumbers, Tires and Dolphins...Oh My!

This last couple weeks has been a blast. Not really. Right after my last post we had a little hiccup with our plumbing in the house. After preparing dinner and using the garbage disposal, the wife came to me and said the kitchen sink was clogged.

I figured a little elbow grease with a plunger or maybe some Liuid PLumber would do the trick. Neither were the answer for this stubborn clog. I checked the trap and pipes under the sink. There was nothing as well. So, we broke down and called a plumber.

The plumber quickly ran a drain auger or "snake" down the drain and unclogged the pipe. Eureka! We were back in business and my wallet was lighter.

A couple hours later I heard the wife scream from downstairs that we had a leak. I waddled downstairs and found a small puddle on the floor with a line of water running up the basement wall to a pipe. It just so happened the pipe had been patched before and the plumber must have knocked the patch loose with his "snake".

Since the plumber wasn't going to cover any damage to already patched pipes, I called a handyman I use. Luckily he was able to come over at a late hour and do a quick fix you see in the picture above.

We started looking at the copper pipes a little closer. They are all looking rough, some have been patched previously. We even found a small leak in another joint. Needless to say, we will be having all our copper drain pipes replaced next week with PVC.

My wallet is getting really light now!

The day after our dinner with the Marine veterans, the wife went to give the dogs a bath and found we had a flat tire on her car. The cool thing is our insurance has road side assistance. We called and had it towed, the tire repaired and the car serviced while it was at the shop.

It was just one more thing to add to the pile on...and the drain on the wallet.

To top all that off, I have been drawing blanks when it comes to writing. Even with all the writing prompts and contests here on Hive the juices just aren't flowing.

I find myself starting on a post, but then deleting it after typing a paragraph or two. Eveen with this post, I started and stopped several times today before actually pulling the trigger and finishing this thing out.

One of the reasons I decided to post was I was motivated today by a little message I received from @hivebuzz.

It seems after powering up just over a couple hundred Hive it put me across the Dolphin threshold. Never thought that would happen so soon. But between investing and rewards, I made it. Now the goal is Orca, which I am not even sure how much HP I need for that. Maybe someone can tell me in the comments?

Anyway, that is enough catching up for now. I do hope you all are having a great weekend and get a good start to your week for those closing their Sunday out.

When it rains, it pours doesn't it? Get all the bad crap out of the way at one time and you'll have some clear sailing ahead. At least that's what I always say to myself when all those little (and not so little) annoyances start to pile up.

Congratulation on your Dolphinhood! That is quite an accomplishment :D

Yes, that is what it seems like sometimes. It is all good though, nothing that can't be managed.

Thank you. Not sure if it is that big a deal, but feels it.

Woohoo dolphin Joe!

that is cool...

Ah life happens and gives a fcuking slap one after the other from time to time!

Writing, well you will be surprised how many posts that I read that are to quote my school English teacher ... a pile of piss that I would not even wipe my arse with!

So just keep going and finish it. What is the worst that happens, you don't get a whale vote. Funny thing I have found over the three years here it is my posts that I spend hours on and pick and edit picks and am proud of don't get rewarded.
Yet I post I bip bop and pull together rapidly can get the votes.

So fluff it, keep that writing going and hit publish ...

It is like now, I have come to curate and seen speedy @lizelle has beaten me to it!

Have a great month Joe and keep writing, you know I love to ramble so feed us some ramblings, after all we are Silver Bloggers and we have earned the right not to give a fluff and to ramble!

Thanks Ed. I think I will do just that. Gonna go work on some rambling now.

No bother Joe

Great advice there @tengolotodo, I agree with you about those posts we start, leave them in draft if really stuck otherwise just push on, and hit that publish button @coinjoe!

Shall I say 'Snap!' Time and time again.
Not that I'm complaining, just an observation.
It's like fishing, you watch the tides, get the best gear and bait, go to the waters at the right time but if there's no fish swimming by, you ain't gonna catch anything from the shoreline!

At least our sincere Hive friends do stop by, read and comment.

Thank you @lizelle it is so appreciated.

Some days just come with so much stress and hisses, but it's a good thing the plumbing problem was all fixed.
Congratulations on becoming a dolphin, it's no mean feat and I hope you get to Orca sooner than you expect.
All the best!

Thank you. The big leak was fixed. But we still have smaller ones and the pipes need replaced, which starts this week thankfully.

Orca seems a long way off, but I am sure we will get there eventually.

My wife has had the notion that things happen in 3’s. You get 3 bad events to happen before you are cleared from them for a while. It’s held pretty well for us haha. It looks like you are at 3, so hopefully nothing else happens!

Orca is 50k HP, and it feels far off but curation rewards really pick up before you know it! Congrats on getting to dolphin that’s wonderful!

I hear you on the posts and not knowing what to write. One of the things that helps me is writing things down that I want to talk about while I’m out. I’ll randomly have a thought when I’m 2 hours into a hike or something and just pop out my phone and throw it in my notes for future writing. This has helped me tremendously and I’ve got about 30 unwritten posts that I’ll eventually get to, but just having the content in the wings like that is good.

Also I’m sorry to hear about your wife’s recent health issues. Did the halter monitor result come back? Hopefully it’s ok! One thing I recommend is adding things like raw garlic into your diet! Raw garlic is a fucking power house of health benefits especially for the heart!

Thanks for the writing tip.

No the wife's results haven't come back yet. We are still waiting.

Good old Fernco to the rescue! I'm sorry you had to go through that though!

We actually had Roto rooter come out to take care of it. The handyman I use for most of my stuff around the house I can't take care of will be helping with the new drain pipes.

It wasn;t that big a deal to go through. Just a lot of SNAFU at the same time.

It never rains but pours!
Funny how these things come in 'batches', hopefully that's it for now.
Congratulations on reaching Dolphin status, and let me know when you find out about what HP is required for Orca status. Think it is around 50K!
I've got a long way to go!
Good luck

50k is what I was thinking too. I;ve got a real long way to go as well.

Orca is ten times whatever you are at now Joe!
Congrats and congrats @lizelle for beating me to the curate button hehe

Thanks, appreciate the info.

No problem
