Today I am participating in the Memoir Monday #33 (10/21-10/27) - What is one of the best photographs you've ever taken?, where we are invited to share one of those photos that you feel pleased with because it was so good.
Looking through my archives I have some photos (very few) that would fall into that category, among other things because at the moment of the shot, all knowledge about: technique, light, aperture, the two-thirds rule, the landmark and so many other elements disappear from my mind and what I capture is that special moment that I am living and feeling.
Every time I sit down to perform this memory exercise, I think of my Catalan granddaughters who do not know the land of their father and grandparents and how much I would like to give them an idea of how is that little piece of land that you see on the world-map called Venezuela, as well as our customs, experiences, the good and the not so good of its people and its geography.
Today's post lends itself to show you one of the most beautiful places of our geography, La Gran Sabana, an immense extension to the south-east of Venezuela, settled in one of the oldest places on the planet: The Guiana Massif, which covers an area of six South American countries and where the Amazon Rainforest extends.
But beyond its geographical data, the great savannah in its immensity is a place that opens to feel its strength, its pulsating energy that really provokes you to stay there enjoying, feeling a connection and surrender to the universe, infinitely thanking God for his creation and for having the opportunity to be able to meet there.
One photo is not enough for me to describe it, so I upload four photos that capture something of this experience.
From the Cerro el Paují there is a height called the abyss, when you stand on the edge your gaze is lost in the Amazon jungle, it is a place of immense stillness, where the clear and close sky merges into the infinite giving you a great inner peace. My photography is beautiful, it captures what is close and palpable, while at the same time it captures what can only be felt.
The water flows in the great savannah with a force that overwhelms, to feel the sound of its fall shakes, it is not fear, it is emotion, it is to marvel and feel respect for something so naturally imposing that really seems to have a life of its own and that embraces you with love filling you with its life-giving energy.
In the background the tepuis, bathed in magic through the legends of its inhabitants, the Pemones, an indigenous people, fighter and protector of their roots and traditions.

Hoy participando en el Memoir Monday #33 (10/21-10/27) - What is one of the best photographs you’ve ever taken?, donde nos invita a compartir una foto de esas con la que te sientes complacido porque te salió muy buena.
Revisando mis archivos tengo algunas fotos (muy pocas) que entrarían en esa categoría, entre otras cosas porque en al momento de la toma, todo conocimiento sobre: técnica, luz, apertura, la regla de los dos tercios, el hito y tantos otros elementos desaparecen de mi mente y lo que capto es ese momento tan especial que estoy viviendo y sintiendo.
Cada vez que me siento a realizar este ejercicio de memoria, pienso en mis nietas catalanas que no conocen la tierra de su padre y abuelos y lo mucho que me gustaría que se dieran una idea de cómo es ese pedacito de tierra que se ve en el mapa-Mundi llamado Venezuela, así como nuestras costumbres, vivencias lo bueno y lo no tan bueno de su gentilicio y de su geografía.
El post de hoy se presta para mostrarles uno de los más hermosos lugares de nuestra geografía, La Gran Sabana, una inmensa extensión al sur-este de Venezuela, asentada en uno de los lugares más antiguos del planeta: El Macizo Guayanés, que abarca zona de seis países sudamericanos y dónde se extiende la Selva Amazónica.
Pero más allá de sus datos geográficos la gran sabana en su inmensidad es un lugar que se abre para sentir su fuerza, su energía palpitante que realmente lo que provoca es quedarte allí disfrutando, sintiendo una conexión y entrega al universo, agradecer infinitamente a Dios por su creación y por tener la oportunidad de poder encontrarte allí.
Una foto no me basta para descripción, Así que subo cuatro que recogen algo de esta experiencia vivida.
Desde el Cerro el Paují hay una altura llamada El abismo, cuando te paras al borde tu mirada se pierde en la selva amazónica, es un lugar de inmensa quietud, donde el cielo límpido y cercano se funde en ese infinito entregándote una gran paz interior. Mi fotografía es hermosa, recoge lo cercano y palpable, al tiempo que recoge lo que únicamente puede ser sentido.
El agua fluye en la gran sabana con una fuerza que avasalla, sentir el sonido de su caída estremece, no es temor, es emoción, es maravillarte y sentir respeto por algo tan naturalmente imponente que realmente parece que tiene vida propia y que te abraza con amor llenándote de su energía vivificante.
Al fondo los tepuyes, bañados de magia a través de las leyendas de sus pobladores, los pemones, un pueblo indígena, luchador y protector de sus raíces y tradiciones.
