Tired Rambling About the State of Existence

in Silver Bloggers26 days ago

My first observation the day after was that Bitcoin sure seemed to like the outcome of the US Presidential election. How about that? BTC briefly touched $75,000 and set a new all-time high. And then did not immediately fall. Might this be the actual start of the so-called 4-year cycle?

Not sure the current uptick means much in the greater scheme of things, but it would certainly be nice if it did signal something. It would certainly be welcome if the new administration was crypto friendly, for example.

As per usual, 48 hours later, there's a lot of post-election gnashing of teeth and wringing of hands, but unlike the partisan pundits, I sincerely doubt the outcome of the election means "an end to everything."

Those sorts of statements are pretty status quo, in the wake of elections, with the losing side believing the end of the world is near. In truth, it just sells newspapers (the old way) to say so... or it gains clicks.

What few people talk about is the fact that Trump wasn't actually elected by MAGA extremists, he was elected by the largely invisible middle.

That particular demographic typically doesn't respond to extreme firebrand rhetoric and endless mudslinging... except maybe with disgust. Typically (sadly) their motivation tends to be more along the lines of "which of these clowns will cause the LEAST permanent damage to my existence?"

They probably account for 80% of the population, but because appealing to them — at least from a marketing perspective — is more boring than watching paint dry, they are often ignored... no matter how much candidates talk about the infamous "undecided voter."

Ultimately, we live in a world where even the core part of the democratic process — elections — have fallen victim to the pervasive need we seem to have for "infotainment," rather than actual reality and politics.

Or maybe the two have simply become indistinguishable.

The more things change, the more they stay the same...

Chances are I'll still be poor, in another four years. Chances are that very little will actually change in this country, in the course of the next four years. Of course, I could be wrong about that...

For now, I'm more concerned with the daily stuff, like doing well as vendors at the conference we're attending this weekend. It'll be interesting to see how the mood of the greater world will influence results!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Friday!

Trump has made some overtures toward the crypto community this time around, so maybe we will see relaxed tax and regulation involvement. I don't think it's guaranteed, but the odds are better. More freedom means more value for good blockchains.

Definitely such an important take - and so accurate. The middle is who gets forgotten by it all and the pundits and morons on either side, more so the “left” this time around but certainly both sides seemingly every cycle or other cycle - they ignore them. They chin up the donors at the top, beg the working poor for their allegiance and forget the 80% in the middle who are the most important and largest cohort. I don’t love trump but I did better in his previous 4 years than I did with this current group and I don’t mind trying him again for 4 more instead of her. I fully agree at the end of the day not a lot will change on many levels it I think the important thing is that we get away from the absolute insanity. Gender destruction for kids, this ridiculous focus on identity politics at every level. These are such ridiculous and foolish issues when we are struggling to put food on the table, to get meaningful work and other more important things.

We will see how it goes, if it ends up being really good for the people in the middle or another shit show.

True Story... Crypto Friendly

"which of these clowns will cause the LEAST permanent damage to my existence?"

I resemble that remark..😳
