RE: Finding A New Mission

I almost never talk politics here on Hive, as it's too divisive. You and I have both served, so we know the challenges that veterans face once they've completed their service (hell, even while they're serving!). So I'll say this once. It's good that you don't follow me on Twitter because I get furious at all of the money we spend on foreign countries (and the current conflict in Europe), as my ancestors died fighting Germany in WW2, and a certain country that we're helping right now actually backed Germany, and every week we have to answer their DEMANDS (not requests mind you, but actual DEMANDS) for more weapons and more money, week after week after week (Deep breaths...)

But we never seem to have any for the women and men who served...

So it angers me to see homeless veterans everywhere I go. I don't care who refuses to supoort me on Hive because of my thoughts on this, our military veterans have to come first. I've seen so much neglect in VA hospitals and such. It hurts my heart that I don't have the resources to help them. I spoke to one guy in his 70s last year who'd been evicted and had all of his belongings under the bridge (a lot of them live under our bridges). It was cold out and winter had just started. I was able to use my contacts in the human services field to get him into one of the last open beds, but there are so many more homeless veterans out there living on the streets. Before we start handing out funds to other countries, we need to take care of our own. These people served our country with distinction, and the nation needs to support them in return.

I understand your frustration about the care for our veterans and the current state of many. The U.S. is not alone in this area. That is why this Veterans group was started. To help all brothers in arms who may be in need.
