Hi mate!
In Iceland, we have now said NO to the so called "new normal", the duty to wear masks in public places has been lifted, and we are readying to "take it" straight in the face, that is the COVID, we have had two weeks now running weith new record being broken dayly in regards to people diagnosed with COVID,
I just finished a COVID, so has Ms.Photo.
Iceland was among the first countries to close its airspace to Russian commercial airtraffic, (with no clear decleration however about how to fulfill this grand "gesture"
These are scary times, i do agree with you, and oour very values are under a much larger threat than i think ,ost of uus even recognise!
My mind is with the civilian population of Ukraain, i see little hope in arming civiliansd tyoo fght a professional army!... it´s irrewsponsible!
However the Ukrainians arethough as nails with a proud military history! And aint likely too give up theirvery freedom, this has turneds for them in to an existential threat, forcing them in to "total war" or "high intesity" warfare.
Something we havent seen in the streets of Europe since the end of the second world war!
My mind is also with you, i HATE that people all over get unsettled when these geoppolitical things are being "sorted"
Have a wondertful Danish spring day mate, if in a changing world, the seasons float iin and out, and i envy you for soon there wioll be flowers in the Danish fields, and we only have piles and piles of snow,. and apparantly another storm coming in!
Your friend!
Eythorphopto!
Hello @eythorphoto, and nice to "see" you again!
I know in Denmark they also lifted all the Covid restrictions on 1. february and immediately there were record infections... and very few people in the hospitals requiring critical attention. The national health institute declared that Covid-19 "no longer represented a critical health threat" and people went back to normal life. They got ill, and then they got well again.
I've have two rounds of Covid, one near the beginning and one in September last year. The first one was nasty, the second one was 72 hours and finished, and I think I have enough natural immunity now that I am not too worried.
The Ukraine situation worries me very much for the civilians in Ukraine, but as you say it's a proud people and they are tough as nails... and I think the Russians are learning what it is like to be up against a nation that has everything to lose... their freedom and existence.
Let us not forget that the last time "Russia" (the the USSR) tried something like this they took on an ill equipped but stubborn army of Afghanistan, thinking they could just walk in and take over... and 9 years later, the Russians withdrew with their economy in shambles and the USSR dissolved as a result... and Afghanistan continued to be Afghanistan.
