Happy Hive-inersary #3 silverbloggers
It's hard for me to believe I have been blogging, sort of 🤷♂ since December 23, 2018, my intro post. I had retired from my job just the year before and I also relocated from New Jersey to our farm in Upstate New York. A big to do I can assure you. I knew it was the only place @thebigsweed and I could spread our wings and enjoy the laid-back lifestyle of being "farmers", enjoying nature, growing our food, and traveling a bit.
After forty-four years of using our farm as our "summer house" as my daughter referred to it, we now enjoy our farm full-time. We take pride in our nurtured place, full of so many sweet memories.
Our #2 son Ryan turned us onto Steemit #hive, explaining how we could not only document our journey but we could make new cyber friends from around the world, we jumped in with both feet. What a ride it has been.
I met @lizelle through a community called #foodfightfriday, run by @splatts and @dandays, what a trip that was.
I always had my camera in the kitchen.
I was a computer idiot. But with the help of some new friends, I slowly learned the ropes. A circle of new friends came into my life that made me laugh, learn and make a little money.
Hell, my 1st post cashed out at a whopping 26 cents, my first #fff post had two pictures and eighteen words, and that one added to my wallet 15 cents. I was pumped!
I always knew our friend Lizzie was smart as a whip and she was my age, with a long and wonderful marriage, I could tell she was still in love with her man Arthur. It's unique, I think to find couples that not only have been together for a lifetime and still like each other, work well together, and have formed a bond that will never be broken. I am blessed to have that myself. She and I have become girlfriends, so when she formed #silverbloggers I was thrilled with the whole concept, I became @Jackie O the day I joined the community.
Sharing plans of retirement with others happened with ease. Hobbies, health, family, dreams and bucket lists became fun topics to share with other silver-haired folks. The community had an abundance to talk about, recipes, vacations, weddings, and memories of when we were young. #silverbloggers gave me confidence and comfort, all laced with good humor and a genuine sense of caring.
Most "mature" people know the value of friendship and respect others' opinions, no judgment here. Supporting each other with upvotes and a smile.
The biggest reason I keep coming back to #silverbloggers is... I am in my comfort zone. I enjoy the company, it's just that simple. I feel welcomed with open arms.
This #silverblogger thanks @fionasfavourites, @mondoshawan, @coquicoin, and @tengolotodo, as well as the @ocd’s incubation program, this awesome community has grown thanks to all your efforts. Blessings to all.
Much love,
BIG Hugs,
Jackie O.
Very similar feeling here, between the chaos, deep blue sea, emotional treadmill being similar ages it does feel homely in good company.

Hello there my friend, @joanstewart. I knew @silverbloggers was going to be successful and interesting to follow. I felt comfortable right from the start. I love how us "mature" folk can tell it like it is and still feel good about ourselves.
Hope you are well and happy, always nice to here from you.
Always a wonderful place to relate and share, it has been a wonderful time sharing ups and downs with like minded. Met you and hubby here too 🤣 !LUV
Such a great community I know, I was so happy to have met you, I love your sense of humor.
You get a feel of the person, who you can tease/jibe or people you tread a little lighter, felt we cut with very similar cloth 🙃
Hehehe, yup I get the same thoughts, I knew when I first met you my kinda gal. I love to laugh and you seem to find my funny bone.
Enjoy the evening.
Smelling my food cooking, last hat of the day Chef, bottle washer then chillax! Have a great day farmstyling.
It's heartwarming to read this and how friendships blossomed over the years. SB is a beautiful place to be.
And I'd say having your farm and space where you grow your own food and living a laid-back lifestyle is a real form of freedom :)
Hello there @ifarmgirl thanks for dropping by, always nice to hear from you.
SB has been such a welcoming community, I gained confidence in my writing once I joined in, I always felt a little shaky, afraid to say the wrong thing, but I quickly learned there was no judgement there, that I could freely express myself.
Hope you have a wonderful day.
Living in a farm seems peaceful, with fresh air and healthy foods. It's heartwarming to read yours, how a friendship start and blossom over the years♥️.
Hello there @asiaymalay, glad you stopped by. After running the rat race for 42 years of working, retirement has been awesome. With my four children grown and having their own families I am now in charge of my time.
We bought our property in 1980, I was just 24 and we would camp out there on weekends and summers, always improving the land for the future, enjoying it along the way. Now that we have retired, we live here full time, growing our food and enjoy nature. It is so peaceful here, of course when the family shows up as they did Memorial Day weekend it was crazy fun chaos. With 8 grandchildren and their parents who would expect anything else. Always wonderful to have them with us.
Have a beautiful day!
Thank you♥️. I imagine the joy that surrounds your farm every time your children show up together with your grand children. Living in the farm during silver years is far way better compared to the city.
Awe Jackie'O, you and your Long Silver have become dear friends, as you say, from the times of #fff, it's great to also have Silver-Smoothy](@dandays) here along with us silvery folk. By the way, my long intro post made all of 0.28 cents, 2 cents more than yours🤣, but, I was super excited to get so many responses. Funny, it was also my son who introduced me to Steemit, 8 years next month.
There are so many parallels in our journey, and I would never have known that if it were not for our community.
Enjoy life on the farm, you two are blessed to have met at such a young age and are now living your dream.
Thank you for being a part of this community, I love your response, and agree 100%, we have an awesome community here!
PS I love the lettuce beard 😅
Was that the making of a beeeg salad for the family, or what?
28 more than me! My first comment section was like a class reunion from 1901—zero attendees.
You're not just the luckiest guy in the world, you're also the funniest @dandays. Can you hear me cackle all the way from SA?
hahaha...yup it was one big salad. I am a little jealous Lizzie, making 2 cents more than me
Sorry @dandays, you must have been bummed out, but look at you now bro.
2 whole cents🤣
Don't spend it all in one place @lizelle 😁
hahahahahah, you are so funny Lizzie.
We'd probably have been able to buy so much stuff with 2 cents 100 years ago???
Living on a farm must be a great experience, especially if you have lived in a city.
I really enjoyed reading your post, you gave me to know a little bit of the history of this community. Those pictures of the butterflies were very nice. Thanks for sharing dear @farm-mom . A big hug from Maracay.
Oh, you are so sweet, but I have always been a country girl and we lived in the suburbs of New Jersey all our lives. But it is very expensive to live there on a fixed income. It's become way too crowded for us; we wanted more space to grow food. I am just happy that all four of my children live within 3 hours of us.
Thank you for your nice comment.
Beautiful pictures😍
Thank you
I am glad that you and the @thebigsweed are here and such fun members of Silver Bloggers. Your stories are often fascinating and I love how you both appreciate nature as well.
Good day to you. I knew from the start that @silerbloggers was going to have great success, with @lizelle at the helm how could it miss. She has done a wonderful job recruiting folks like you to help this wonderful community to thrive.
Thanks for all you do, much appreciated.
O - Jackie, you beat my very first post by 26 cents, you.
O - I, like the way you guys made it look like lettuce.
Hey there @dandays, it was a trip to spend hours writing a blog that gave me 26 pennies, but I quickly learned that money had nothing to do with it. I was so happy to find you, you helped me over the hump and were so kind to me the computer idiot. But I have found some wonderful people on the blockchain and I am so grateful. Thank you, you are like my 4th son hehehehehe
I hope and pray that you and pura live a long and wonderful life together and maybe blog about the old lady who lives in the mountains of Upstate New York.
Bob looks good in lettuce, I prefer tomatoes.
Now look at you, typing big like a G!
4th?!? I'll take 4th! I love 4th. I mean, I'm a 2nd place kinda dude but 4th is like 1st this time. I'm in!
ho ho ho, You would love my kids, my three boys are awesome and my daughter, she is the best. I can see you hanging out with us roasting marshmallows over an open fire.
What a beautiful tribute to #silverbloggers and a look into your life.
