Before we get to this week’s theme, we have a few BIG thank yous…

untitled.gif

To begin, SilverStreak quietly and without us noticing, dropped 10 HBD into our wallet just over two weeks ago!

Secondly, as is becoming the habit around here, last week’s winner Silver Clicker sent some of her winnings right back to us, so we've added that 10 Hive to the prize pool.

Lastly a bow goes to Silver Thumb for increasing her delegation to the community account, (@hive-106306). This means that as our account grows, so does our capacity to support posts from active members of our community.

Some housekeeping

  • Please follow our community curation trail - another way to support the community and its members. You can sign up here.
  • Join us for a coffee and a chat in our Discord server which is open to subscribed members only.
Again, a special thank you to @macchiata for all her help with this as we navigate our way through more new things. It's not true that you can't teach old dogs new tricks - we’re all still learning!

🌻A reminder🌻

For those of you who are regular contributors to the Silver Bloggers Community #bow initiative, and newcomers, too, a reminder that:

  • The winners' announcement is separate from the new theme. If you missed the winning post, you'll find it here.

  • to keep things fair: the same person (account) may not win twice in succession.

In summary, last edition's winner may enter, but the contribution, like those of the judges' panel, will not be eligible for a prize .

Many times we make the mistake of making children do something just because it is customary, but they do not ask them if they want to or not, if they like it or not. I don't like Halloween because I don't like horror and dead things. Good thing that you already spent your time of trick or treat @owasco.

Hi! This is my entry for this week. And thank you so much for this initiative. 🎃

An adopted custom that has made many of us participate in something on the subject. Your son got a lot of loot @coquicoin

That time he was very lucky and got a lot of candies, hehe. I remember how happy he was. So I always try to have candy for the children of my neighbors on Halloween.
Thank you for reading my post! :)

Thank you for your kind words @sand126, hope to see your Halloween story for this week's #bow!

In my home country the Philippines, each family goes to the grave of the loved ones and clean the grave and also bring food for the dead as offering... Which will then be eaten by each member after the prayers are said. So that it looks like a picnic in the cemetery... Lols.

Thank you for hosting such fun contest and here is my entry for the #Bow.

OMG, Joan, really? Halloween is my favorite holiday. I guess I just like dressing up and pretending .
Well, now is your chance to follow and pretend too!

As children we grew up with Guy Fawkes very low key in our back garden, Scottish Tradition 'First Footer' a couple of times.

Never Halloween, perhaps the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain just never arrived on our shores.

It is celebrated now, the younger generation dress up and thoroughly enjoy a good night out on the town dressed up. Not quite the way it happens in your land where people interact throughout the village, our ones are more private parties.

Same here Joan, but it's never too late not so;)
I'm going to try and make some gory candy and pass it on to a neighbour down the road who's busy arranging a Halloween trick or treat for the kids in our area.

Actually looking around the world Halloween has different connotation depending on region, some say it was Celtic new year, others once a year ancestors rise from the dead, many just go out and have fun.

Most children I know would prefer to learn about the mysterious Tikoloshe/Tokoloshe which they have heard about, perhaps not a bad idea to combine the little evil water spout with walking dead in a new years celebration. 😁

That would certainly give a SA twist on Halloween 🎃

Devil spirit you need more than a raised bed, afraid it has been hard at work over the last couple of years, yes it would be a strange twist.

I join you here Joan

There's always a first time for everything, it's us SA people that have only caught on now. You can always make a gory treat this year;)

Actually if you think back even Valentines day only became a 'thing' when we were in our late teens, another we never grew up with.

Well, there's always a first time: Halloween on Sunday....

Not here, no one does it. Something that the teenagers are taking interest in though.

Some of our cultures are strange, but we must follow them so that they are not lost. Although many times it is better if they are lost, don't you think? I'm sorry you don't have photos of those costumes and that kind of even @repayme4568

Yes, I agree with you, those ones that are too scary and barbaric should not be practice anymore, because practicing it is taking us Backward

Good suggestion 🤗

My ineligible entry for this week's #bow Halloween Treats

They say that food enters through the eyes and if so I do not blame your family for not eating them. The mind does the work of seeing something and associating it with something unpleasant, that is why the refusal to eat something that may be very tasty, but in appearance is ugly hahaha. I guess they missed something rich coming from you, friend @lizelle.

I think those nails put them off, just the thought of it😅
