Loving this Beautiful Thing Called Life

in Silver Bloggers3 years ago (edited)

It's the Hump day (Wednesday) and a very cold one. Hope it is warmer where you are at :)

My old man texted early in the morning (6:16 am) saying "Let's have coffee". I was feeling a little lazy to get out of bed so soon but coffee was tempting so the husband and I went to their house and yes, coffee was ready, wasn't coffee at all but milk, lol! So we stayed for over an hour and had chitchat then at 8 am, they decided to make breakfast but I was feeling rather full from the milk and some banana muffins from my brother's daughters so I excused myself and the husband ate with them.

Coming back home here usually means having meals with my parents at their house so we never have to cook. And it is great because I always miss Mom's cooking, although she cooks simply, her food are usually tasty and add to it the conversations we have that kind of make the meals even more delightful :)

Anyway, Mr. Sun decided to take a day off today so I did too, lol! I kept myself indoors instead of continuing yesterday's jolted work. And while staying warm, I went for a little adventure in the bookshelf and found something that got me wondering for some time.

I bought this cookbook from a book sale many years ago because I was so keen on learning how to work in the kitchen.

Flipping through the pages, I did wonder why I didn't keep up with the keenness that it just disappeared somehow :) Then I was reminded that the husband had always been the one making his own magic in the kitchen. He loved it then and up until now.

Baked Meat Manicotti, one of the recipes on the cookbook

So yes, maybe that's one of the reasons why I kind of set aside the learning. I do cook from time to time, rice and brew coffee too, but when it comes to viands and other stuff, the husband gets them done and makes them a lot tastier than I do :)

Anyway, going over the pages, I found this:

This was my own hand writing many years ago and reading it today kind of mesmerized me. Writing in different styles was one of my hobbies in the past. I loved colored pens and highlighters then and was fond of jotting down my thoughts or copying catchy phrases or quotes using them. I even had scrapbooks which I believe are in one box in the attic.

The quality of your life depends
on how you love the things you do...
how you do the things you love...
and how you love the one who loves you...

And while I was deep in thoughts, my two girls (my brother's two princesses) came knocking at the door and came in proudly showing their cute wee hamster pets with 4 tiny babies :)

And I found myself getting mesmerized all over, lol! Perhaps this is what the quote above really meant? Loving life and the things that come with it, and more so the people who mattered most.

And it did remind me I had to go help the hubby with the work outside, lol!

So this is just it for today... thank you and cheers to beautiful life and yes, people too :)

A husband who cooks and mother close who also enjoys cooking sounds like it's time to start Calligraphy as a full time hobby!

Words you wrote all those years ago still very meaningful today!

Thank you, Joan. Never thought of calligraphy but it sounds a great hobby indeed :)

Perhaps a hobby you never realized you have 😄

I probably need to try doing it to see if I still had it in me☺

Nothing ventured, nothing gained, enjoy giving it a go!

Thank you and I will :) Have an awesome day.

What you wrote out in the book is the approach that leads us to happiness despite life's tribulations.

Enjoy your parents' meals, sis. Even if you have the farm boy who always keeps you well-fed, hehe.

That perhaps is the secret to happiness sis hehe. Thank you for this and for the posh too ;)

You are welcome, sis! :)
