RE: Good Day - Bonjour - Guten Tag

Oh words..., 'good day' to me is curt way of not becoming involved neither hello nor goodbye. Salut no one would understand living in Africa.

Living in predominantly Zulu province more often than not Hamba kahle ('Go well') or Sala kahle ('Stay/remain well'), English 'Hi how are you'. Afrikaans formal Goeiemôre: Good morning. Goeiedag: Good day. Goeiemiddag: Good afternoon. Goeienaand: Good evening. Most of us simply say informal ""Hoe Gaan Dit", how things going.

Different strokes for different folk, always boils down to opinion and region.

!LOLZ Good grammar thought here!

Sala kahle... i like that. And it is kind of funny how these greetings change in different regions, you often enough can even see where the church didn't really went to war. Ha!

Traditions still run deep which is a good thing when a world is trying to lose their identity.

Yes and no... Actually, tradition is one of those words that I don't understand in a social way. Certainly another rant coming on it, one day !

And a big thank you for reading my blog... and leaving some comments. Much appreciated dear Joan!
