The Rose

A Thousand Thorns For The Beauty Of But One

Cry of anguish, reflection in happiness, hearty happy laughter, remembering someone or something now gone?

No regrets, time together has flourished like the rose when time arrives withers. Watching this bloom reminded me of how swiftly much can change. This song holds special meaning in something that can journey with us for a lifetime, or be a part of the journey.

Rosebuds are a symbol of beauty and courage, take courage from nature in a positive light, always adds meaning, bringing about pleasure, to young and slightly older a show of love and romance.

Eternal rose of sweet heavenly wine, tipped ruby red like fruits of paradise against the morning light, pressed with reminder of thorns below, each rose carries an eternal flame in our hearts.

TheRose

Some say love, it is a river
That drowns the tender reed
Some say love, it is a razor
That leaves your soul to bleed

Some say love, it is a hunger
An endless aching need
I say love, it is a flower
And you, its only seed

IMG_4403.JPG

It's the heart, afraid of breaking
That never learns to dance
It's the dream, afraid of waking
That never takes the chance
It's the one who won't be taken
Who cannot seem to give
And the soul, afraid of dying

That never learns to live

When the night has been too lonely
And the road has been too long
And you think that love is only
For the lucky and the strong
Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the bitter snows
Lies the seed that with the sun's love
In the spring becomes the rose

Lyrics Songwriter Amanda McBroom
Singer Bette Midler

The film which I never for some reason got to see was loosly based around the life and times of singer Janis Joplin battling a self-destructive lifestyle in late 1960s.

This is such a beautiful post. Bette Middlers "The Rose" was one of the 1st songs I learned in vocal training when I was around 13. Those lyrics stuck with me all this time ❤️

I enjoyed Janis Joplin and Bette Midler one day I must watch the film, songs that bring so much meaning through depth of the words.

Have a lovely week and thanks for visiting !LUV

You know, now that you mention it, can you believe I've never watched the film? I really must. Bette Middler is a fantastic actress as well.

Should be interesting, I must make time to view it as well.

Thank you, Joan. I cannot listen to this. One of Tom's favourites.

When you are ready, everything takes time, not to heal, to overcome.

Take care with !LUV

I love roses, they are my main inspiration for painting. They are delicate and complex at the same time and can symbolize the breadth of love reflected in each petal.

Best regards.

Winter here currently, the roses have delivered beauty, surprised me with many blooms to smile upon daily. Decor on a cake delivered for my daughter-in-laws birthday during the month, absolutely stunning!

Lovely rose, well done, mine have been blighted this year by fungus and rust spot, have cut them all back hard. Better luck next year I hope

Right weather conditions this year, they happy. Plants I leave to their own device, insects or birds will do what they do best....

nature looking after itself, I have also been invaded by Cinnabar moth caterpillars this year, there is a lot of ragwort at the back of my rear fence, do they stay there and munch on that? No! they decide to come and munch on the leaves of some of my plants! little buggers

Obviously you never got the Memo, they take what they want/need, no permission required!

Ahh, forgot to check my in tray!

they do look lovely wriggling about, I just wish they would bugger off back into the woods.

No passport required, they go where the plants are tastiest....

LOL!!!!!!!!!

Beautiful shots of the rose, Joan. I never saw the film either but song is lovely. Yes, life can change in an instance, especially with the loss of those close to one.

Happens in the blink of an eye when we least expects it, yet we all experience. Song is one where lyrics are haunting.

Oh, how beautiful of you to share this awesome song. My heart goes out to the women who have recently found themselves alone. May time heal their broken hearts and may their memories once again bring smiles to their faces.

Somehow we manage one by one as life presents change, the loss of long time partner is devastating, I am sure their loved ones will assist steady them going forward.

Watching this rose as a bud when I heard the first news it grabbed my attention, open on news of the second husband, made me think deeper once again about how life's cycles never end even for the most beautiful.
