I just love old stone walls like that. We've got many places up here with remnants of them from the 1800's It's always interesting to find them out in the middle of nowhere in the woods, and think about how that used to be an old road, or someone's home. Where did they go to have become so overgrown as to be unrecognizable except for the wall? How much they must have witnessed, standing there silently watching, ever watching.
Smile, and don't lose your head! lol
Stone walls have been so much a part of my growing up. New England is filled with them, mostly from yesteryear, but still to this day, the walls stand in different states of health. The ones in the middle of nowhere, I have to guess that they were used for livestock, keeping them corraled. When you think about it, many were used as they cleared the land to farm and there were so many rocks. they stacked them and created plots.
Oh, yes! If walls could talk.
Stone walls are one of my favorite fences. They are beautiful and each has its own character. Hehe... Oh, yes. I am always losing my head or leaving it somewhere. Thanks for stopping by @ksteem!
