How a decision to stop at the petrol station nearly turned my life upside down!
I heard a loud bang as a vehicle hit the pavement on a sharp bend! The small van was spinning out of control, tyres screeching and almost flipped over. It was a case of split seconds or I would have been smack bang in his pathway!
My laidback Saturday mood was rudely broken.
I'm sure many of you have close calls when going about your daily lives.
Do we have guardian angels, or is it just fate?
I like to believe that I indeed have a guardian angel! How many times have I forgotten to look before I leap, and gasp when I stop myself just in time?

This morning's incident made me realize once again just how fragile life is, and how important it is to make the most of each day!
Nothing grand, simply spending time with precious friends or family or enjoying solitude.
I was very much in need of some alone-time, especially after a crazy holiday season with BnB guests coming and going, and friends and family popping by. I love visitors, but it can become overwhelming!
It's good to feel comfortable in your own skin, right?
It's been a blistering Saturday, with the temperature going up to 37°C here at home, and because of our humidity, the real feel was well into the 40s.
It's now after 8 at night, and although the temperature has dropped down to 28°, the house is still warm inside!
The last of our holiday guests soon returned after their outing today, and enjoyed the pool as the beaches were still overcrowded and scorching.
I spent most of the afternoon in my bedroom-cum-study, and had/ still have, the aircon flying.
Weird to think we're melting from the heat when everyone on the other side of the world are shivering in icy weather!
While our day has come to an end it's only now beginning in other parts of the world.
I hope 2025 is treating you well so far! I for one am thankful that I escaped disaster this morning by a split second!

So glad you're okay! That is scary when something like that happens! That pool looks nice! I'm sure my family would love to swim in it! I think it's wild too when it's cold and snowy in the US and we have sunny, happy weather here! Ha!
It was very close, I was about to drive out of the garage premises when it happened!

I was very shaken up, the driver looked VERY young, I still wonder if he even had a license! He obviously was speeding, inexperienced and took the corner wrong!
Wish you could send some snowy weather this way!
It will be uncomfortably hot from now till end March. I can't wait for autumn!

Young drivers without experience should be very careful while driving. We all have to be very careful actually, but when more experience then less chances for accidents

He was definitely going to fast and did not see the bend in the road! One often has to think for the other drivers!
It really does give you pause when after having any sort of close call, you realize one smidge of difference in timing and your whole life could have been changed.
I try to be grateful for many things in my life, but times like those sometimes make me think I am not nearly grateful enough !

... and yes, we are beginning quite a long spell of nights with temps below freezing..... brrrrrrrr..... cold weather is certainly something I don't appreciate. :)
Hi Jacey, yes there is so much we take for granted, there are little miracles around us every day.
I was about to drive out of the garage when this happened, it for sure unsettled me!
I cannot handle freezing weather either, our winters are mild, but the one season I don't enjoy is a subtropical summertime!

Life is very fragile. A second can change everything. That is why we must take advantage of every moment, as you say. Sometimes we worry about unimportant things and our lives go by in the blink of an eye.

Very true @lanzjoseg, we often waste precious time over trivial issues. I am thankful!
Grace milady, it's all by grace, and we have also had some narrow escapes here. Some people can really be very reckless when they are on the roads. A mad rush that most times ends in accidents.

True Zac, it is by grace alone that I nattered a bit too long to the petrol attendant, otherwise the outcome would have been disastrous!
I still wonder if the driver had a license, he looked way too young, as did the passenger!

Another hot day, rained last night and woke up to some relief, but the sun's out in all its vengeance, so I'm having a lunch break underneath the aircon, before tackling the second changeover for the day! Fortunately both sets of guests were super neat, cleaned up every day, making my job so much easier.
I was a lucky fish not to turn into the road at that moment, it certainly unsettled me for a while!

It sounds crazy hot. I'm hot here too. I have the heat cranked and afraid to go outside. It's only minus 10C right now. It gets worse.
Extreme cold weather wkould also be awful, I'm not used to it! But this heat is simply unbearable!
The best season still is Autumn!
Yeah I remember the heat of Bali. It was pretty brutal haaha.
Oh my word, minus 10! I would not stick my nose out the door, I cannot handle freezing weather either. Every other season except summertime is great in our subtropical climate!

Woke up to cooling rain again, unlike yesterday it seems to be here to stay according to the weather coffins, a lot of it too!
