If all else fails, a simple reboot will do the trick!
Just so it is through the various phases of life. We never stop evolving, from an innocent baby to an inquisitive toddler, when we learn rapidly.
Come to think about it, we really start life as a fertilized egg, haha, funny, but true! Actually a mind-blowing thought! So fragile, yet so determined to come into the world!
We go from childhood, all the while evolving. The fabulous but difficult teens where we desperately want to be grown-up, and be an adult. When we get there, we're faced with big responsibilities, making life-changing decisions: career choices, getting into the workplace, and caring for our own family. Those years can be difficult if we've not made the right career choice, as it's when we spend most of our waking hours at the workplace. Nevertheless, life becomes a whirlwind, working, tending to our homes, nurturing our children, and watching them grow into young adults.
The time comes where we have to step away from the workplace, kind of get kicked out at a certain age if it's a big corporate.
The only thing to do then is a hard reboot!
Not as easy as it sounds.
So many people yearn for the day they stop working, so it's almost an anti-climax when they get there; what to do now? The kids now have their own families, and grandpop or grandmama are now retired and have so much time on their hands! Surely it would do them good to have at least a few chores - pick up the kids from school, take them to extra-curricular activities, and so on.
Many folks now in their golden years find they have less time on their hands than ever before. There comes a time when they have to say, Enough, can't do it no more.
Time for that hard reboot!
Take stock of what you want to do, and remember the long-forgotten dreams and yearnings that seem to come from eons ago.
Is it not time to move on? It's just the two of you again, or perhaps just one, so do you really want to live in such a big home? Why not find something easier to maintain, a lock-up-and-go? Check out your options, look at that bucket list, or start one afresh!
Living and loving, a constant flow from one phase to the next.
Remember to reboot from time to time, and when you get to your autumn years, a hard reboot will have you off on a new adventure on the never-ending circle of life!

You might know that I have never considered retirement milady. Never been in my mind, as I want to work until I croak. We call your reset change, and it serves us well, even though it gets a bit more difficult lately. In a few days I will be 71, and lately I have this strange thought about if it was all worth it.
The endless battles and troubles to overcome takes their toll on one's health, and now I am in a health battle that I hope will be my last. But still, I have peace in my heart, and that is all that counts.
Please take care.

You're a year younger than me then!
Sacrifices we've made over the years for sure take their toll, but imagine if you'd not done all you believe in, life would feel empty, and your dreams would be unfulfilled, just look at the legacy you've created!
That in itself is something to be proud of, and I know you're a humble man who doesn't want any acknowledgement, but you've gone above and beyond, and not let your health issues get in the way.
That is admirable Zac.
Please take care of yourself now🙏
Okay Aunty, I am still a youngster, and I say this with all due respect !LOL
I was basically forced to turn my life around at age 40 and took a decision to follow my heart. Then Marian was added unto me, and without her nothing would have happened. So, a new life started, and it continues to this day. James, one of our ex Papillon board members used to say that I am the rocket, and Marian is the nuts and the bolts :)
Thank you for the wonderful compliment, even though I feel that it's undeserved, as I have to give the credit to all of those, including you, that support us.
Blessings and peace be unto you.

Now that we are retired from the rat race and all the children are grown and moved to other states and countries, it is quite for sure. Thankfully, we both enjoy gardening and growing all our own food, well as much as we can. That keeps us very busy upkeeping, planting, harvesting and so forth. It keeps us mentally and physically young even though I am turning 70 and my husband will be 80 this July. Time has flown by, and we have gone through many wonderful stages together. ♥
You are blessed to still have your hubby @sunscape, and to still live such a fullfilled life. Things change big time when one partner goes, so enjoy every moment of each day. Time is so precious!
I never wanted to retire ever, I always said "you will carry me out of here in a box" but that all changed in october 2017, when I walked out, not exactly retiring but a self made decision to hold my head up high and to protect my professional reputation. (I am still under a NDA). But I will say I stood against the lying, the conniving and the corporate cover up.
Fortunately I was financially secure and thought "fuck it, my time now" and haven't worked since. One massive reboot indeed.
Good on you to stick to your principles and make that move. A hard reboot that was for sure!
It's sickening how unscrupulous some big corporates are to succeed, as if the end justifies the means!
When hubby and I used to debate the pros and cons of selling and getting a smaller lock-and-go home, he often said they'll have to just carry him out of our home in a box one day. Well, he walked out, drove himself to the hospital, I drove back, and he never came back. So, in a way, he got his wish, just a little too soon!
It's your time now @grindle, so enjoy it!
Cheers @lizelle in a perverse way it is good that he sort of got his wish, but yes our time here is very short, too short. I hope you both lived life to the full, I am sure you did.
I cannot imagine not working. Let alone retiring. Work helps my brain, gives my life shape, not to mention pays the bills.
I hope you are kind to yourself as you make this change.
It's going to take some time, not many people buyers at present, but it suits me fine, gives me more time to sift through stuff. When things are going well I doubt myself for making this decision as I do enjoy the interaction with guests, the unexpected long bookings, (especially the beeps on my phone when there's a deposit😉), but realize the time is right. Especially when there's maintenance issues, or bookings drop (always after severe weather, apparently will be a regular occurrence in KZN in the future) I'm into my 70s now (wish it was the 1970s), so, need to move while I'm still able.
I will have more time to Hive. Will scour thrift shops, spruce up the finds and put an effort into Yaga. Dean's girlfriend did very well that way, I've neglected it big time. Thankfully I get 2 good pensions and my medical aid is subsidised. But it would be nice to still have extra income. I'm just taking it day by day, Bonginkosi and I are still doing stuff to the garden, looking so nice now!
A move would have been so much easier if Arthur was still here, but it wasn't meant to be!

Moon is coming
I don't know what the future brings. If I stop working😬. Maybe I need to do a hard reset😁.
I think you still have plenty of time for that hard reset @asiaymalay, so just enjoy every day🤗
Hehehe, it feels like time runs so fast, and I'm running out of time😬
