Last month marked our 10th wedding anniversary. That's a long, long time! The 9th of May to be exact. Except thats not exact because in Thailand, you're legally married when you stroll into the local council offices with two witnesses, give them a simple form and walk out ten minutes later with a certificate. You don't even need to book in advance at a quieter or more rural office, and that actually happened around the middle of May.
Just to confuse things further, the wedding photos and a video was shot at the end of the previous January!
No, the date we use is the date of the ceremony. The one with monks, splashing water and kneeling in front of the parents, not to mention the food, drink and open guest list. An introverts nightmare but the wife loved it, and that's all that really mattered, but still just a ceremony with zero legal status!
As I've said before, Thailand has an inate ability to make even the most simple procedures more complex than an MP's tax affairs.
So here we are, ten years on and without banging on about sickness, health, richer, poorer and mushy shite about loving to the moon and back i'll just say that we celebrated with a quiet meal after work at one of our favourite restaurants on Nathorn sea front, Kobori.
Kobori is a very well known Japanese restaurant here on Koh Samui and although I dont eat sea food, the wife loves it. They do a wonderful smoked salmon and she swears that the sushi is to die for.
Me, I love simple Japanese rice bowls. Nothing more than rice, beef and onions with a few deep-fried gyoza on the side. The best thing for me though is the beer. It's the only place that sells my favourite tipple, Asahi, on tap.
Nathorn sea front also has the added bonus of being the best sunset viewing point on the island. What could be more romantic?
So that's it. Happy 10th wedding anniversary to us, and that leaves me with just two months left to save up for another big celebration: The wife's 40th birthday! That could be seriously costly!
I'll leave you with a photo actually taken on the 9th of May 2014...
Happy Anniversary mate!
Thank you so much. Best wishes to you both and stay healthy and happy.
Finally a face to the name. Happy anniversary 🤗🎉 you both look very happy then and now which isn't something everyone can say after 10 years so congrats!
Thank you so much. Time flies. On Hive, many people are celebrating seven years this year!
Never stop being amazing and best wishes :-)
Happy anniversary Nathan :) You haven't aged much, both still looking like you did 10 years ago :) Congrats on your milestone of 10 years and wish you many more happy anniversaries 🎉
Agreed with @livinguktaiwan seafood is no 1 in Asia. You missing out ^^
Thank you so much and what a lovely surprise to see you! I'd just had a little stalk of your profile a couple of days ago to see you hadn't been around for a while, and here you are!
Hope you're healthy and happy and living your best life.
Thanks again and take care always :-)
PS Don't be a stranger!
Congtrats!!! You look so smart 10 years ago, in fact you haven't aged much over the years, it must the sun in Thailand!
And what do you mean you don't eat seafood?? That is so English!!!!🙃 Seafood is the best in Asia
Thank you so much :-)
Or more likely, the wife's ridiculously expensive Xiaomi Mi 14 Ultra she recently bought!
LOL the seafood is amazing here, the local boats pull up onto that beach and the seafood goes straight into the restaurants along the road. Luckily for me, there are plenty of alternatives!
Happy anniversary, cheers to many more years to come😃😃
Is this a first mugshot reveal? That beer is quite widespread over here in restaurants, I like it.
Thank you and Second. The first was a distant shot, quite a while back! Never realised Asahi was so readily available there, will be looking out next time.
Hope you and the family are well and thanks again :-)
I can never remember the name and usually order ‘that beer that begins with A’ which tends to work. 😀
Doing ok, hope you are too
Happy 10th anniversary 🥳🥳 up to many more years!
The food looks delicious… good you both enjoyed it.
A big day soon 🥳 have fun preparing something special.
What could I give the woman who already has all she needs? lol ;-) obviously, Ill have to think of something hmm!!
That’s a difficult task… i hope you come up with something nice.
(Maybe a day out, being pampered in a spa and a nice dinner afterwards or a little weekend away)
Happy Wedding Anniversary to you and all the best for many coming decades ❤️ you are a great couple and I can see your deep love on those pictures. The food looks delicious!

This is the second time I saw you share a face reveal but his one is a throwback and looking fine alright. I know it's late but congratulations on your 10th Anniversary!
Thank you so much. Time marches on.
Hope you're well and not letting your community grind you down too much!
Best wishes and thank you again, appreciated :-)
I love Asahi! Especially with a big rice bowl like you described.
Congrats man, it ain't easy at times with these blummin chicks but it's worth it!!
Thank you! They must have snuck the Asahi into bars whilst I wasn't looking in the past 13 years. Ice cold and sharp, it works very well here especially as the local protagonists aren't great brews.
Best wishes and thanks again :-)
You need a good beer to enjoy whilst gadding about! I don't actually think I have heard of any Thai beers which doesn't speak well of them!
