We had New Years Day at Hervey Bay on the Frazer Coast of Queensland and it absolutely poured rain for there parkrun but the rest of the trip was fine.
Mudjimba Beach parkrun on the Sunshine Coast was another good day trip.
Our Tassie loop trip started with a few days in Sydney to Visit family, this was our first flight since covid. It was my first time to Sydney Olympic Park and we did the parkrun at Wentworth Common near the old brickworks.
Tasmania was great. So much to do and see, we hired a car and did a quick lap of this Island State. We timed it so we could attend a parkrun tourist podcast listener's meetup and the most Southerly parkrun in Australia at Geeveston.
The beachside town of Penguin and Russell Falls were just a few of the things we saw.
On the way home we stopped in Canberra to visit more Family and picked up Mount Ainslie parkrun.
Back home we visited Lake Apex at Gatton for there fast two lap parkrun.
A few friends we training for a last man standing event, I joined them for 4 laps of an extended Fodder Forrest parkrun course. 6.71 kilometres on the hour for 4 hours in a row. This type of endurance running is not really my thing but it was great to have a go.
A friend from work joined us on a day trip to Toowoomba for there parkrun through there Botanic Gardens.
Yamba parkrun was on the Northern Coast Line of New South Wales and well worth a weekend trip away.
We picked up a cheap flight with some frequent flyer points for weekend to Sydney and their newest parkrun at Whalen Reserve, which was actually held on an old go cart racing course.
Back home again we meet a few friends at one of our favorite parkruns in South Bank Brisbane.
Redland Bay is another great parkrun location not too far for us to visit.
Robelle Domain was a new parkrun for Brisbane and draws a large crowd.
We did another cheap flight to Newcastle for Newy parkrun, our first time with carry on luggage only. Now the best way we like to travel.
In the last part of the year we did another loop city flight trip to New Zealand. The cheapest way was via Sydney first so we happily stayed with Caroline's Mum and I ran a short part of the great north walk.
We also got a parkrun at Mt Penang
A hiked at Bobbin head.
and explored lovely Lisgar gardens.
Auckland's Western Springs was our first International parkrun and we got to meet Vince who made strava2hive so people can share there strava workout files on Hive.
We met another Hivian in Wellington the New Zealand Capital.
Queenstown was one of our best high lights ever.
A beautiful parkrun around their gardens and lake.
and a challenging hike up Ben Lomond.
On the way home we stopped in at Melbourne my home State.
picked up Albert Melbourne parkrun and Arthurs Seat on the Mornington Peninsular.
To end our year we hiked at the Oxley Wild Rivers National Park and did the highest parkrun in Australia At Walcha.
