Memoir Monday #37 My favorite teacher

My favorite School teacher? Wow what a good question I am not really sure. I had to go looking through old school facebook groups to see if any photos or names to jog my memory.

Mrs Sharp was the first teacher I really have any memories of way back in grade 4. Hard but fair is all I can really remember. It was Miss Philips in grade 5. Then Mr Drough in my last year at Primary school. Things were pretty regimented back in those days and I was very young just doing what I was told and trying not to get into too much trouble.

Moving from a small primary school with 2 classes for each year to a what felt like massive high school or Technical school as mine was called, was a big change, there was at least 12 class for each year.

syndal tech 1981.jpg I remember having to stand on the oval for this arial photo.

Unlike primary school we had a different teacher for each class in Technical school, I found a photo that shows most of my teachers from my first year there. The 3 physical education teachers front row right, Mr. Craig, Miss O'Neil and Mr. Green. My Math's teacher Mr. Bell middle left, English, Mrs. Snell, center row right and my science teacher Mr. Groober back row with the dark brown jumper.

I was struggling to pick a favorite, they were all pretty good until I came across a photo with Mr McBain in with the pink shirt. Then it all came back to me. We had this form group teacher who was also my house group teacher for sports. We were in Yangor the red team. They reconned Yangor lost every school event. So Mr. McBain hatched a bit of a plan. Instead of me just doing my favorite running events he gave us time table of all the track and field events and just said make sure Brad gets to them all. I did not win them all but did so well in them all it was enough to get Yangor its first win. Mr McBain was also in charge of Cross Country and I was a runner. I enjoyed all the sport things at school more than the class room learnings.

There you go my favorite teacher!

Did you mean bonkers... or is bokers a South African word?

I had a Mrs Sharp. She actually gave me six of the best for having blunt pencils not long after I started school!
Great pics and glad you remember every one.

Wow, for blunt pencil seems extreme
