This Week's Round Up

in Silver Bloggers5 months ago

Okay, so I don't really know if I'll do this on a weekly basis but for this week it seemed like the thing to do.

Sunday, September 1st was Hive power up day and I powered up a lot. I'm not sure if it was this that pushed me over or the posting and commenting but I finally made it!

Reputation 70 - whoot whoot!

Right, I know that's not really such a huge milestone but with all my breaks in between posting it seemed like I was stuck in the 60s forever. Mind you the 60s were a great decade, I was born in it - LOL - I digress.

Monday, Tuesday - normal work days, nothing special really. I probably dropped a comment on Hive blog posts here and there but didn't get to writing anything.

Wednesday was a big day at work. I lead our company's branch, office here in New Jersey and for the first time our US upper management came to visit. Not the whole
C-suite but a major part including the CEO, CFO and CCO. The day was filled with meeting, discussing and strategizing. It was tiring but also energizing at the same time, so all in all it was a good day that ended with a nice dinner at a restaurant I hadn't been to previously.

Thursday - having been in the meeting all prior day, this meant catch up at work. Loads of it. So much that it carried over to

Friday - recently, Fridays have always been quite hectic in the morning, since I work a lot with Germany. Due to the time difference everything gets usually crammed into the morning till noon-ish. Then, after noon, time to clean up the desk. Normally. Not this Friday. Because it was budgeting time. We had already gotten an extension from our German HO and the deadline was 9/6, Friday.

Due to some changes at our company I was dependent on a co-worker who happens to live in Cali = three hours into the other timezone direction. By the time he got his shit to me, it was 4 pm here and I still had to go over the numbers with another colleague before compiling them. Naturally, we found areas that needed discussion correction. But - the Cali colleague had jumped on to a plane and into the weekend already - arrrgh, bl**dy hell! So, we couldn't talk but we were able to chat (Teams) with him. Still it wasn't until 6 pm that we were satisfied and I could finally get to work (while he landed at his destination - no, I am not grumpy at all!). This took another mere three hours. I shut down my computer at 9 pm, after having started at 7 am.

I am too old for this shit!

... or maybe not...

Saturday - anyhow, it is fine. But I guess my body thought otherwise because I did not have the nice quiet night after a long day that I was expecting. Tummy grumbles and thoughts galore in my head woke me up so that I got up to drink some herbal tea and find some calm. Three hours later I went back to bed for a couple of hours but the day had been off to a bad start. I felt better but not great. We went for a bicycle ride around town but I didn't have much energy.

Sunday - and here we are, Sunday morning. I finally feel good, normal again, however, the weekend will be over soon enough. I still grumble a little about my co-worker but - it's not helping anyone so I am trying to let go. For now at least. We will be having a chat about this that's for sure. But Friday's priority was to get the budget numbers to Germany and we got it done.

Today, hubby and I will be checking out a local brewery that is celebrating their second anniversary with a food truck (Sicilian fried chicken? No idea) and new brews. I'm not too much into beer but it's fun to go there and see hubby enjoy the brews. We might be brainstorming a bit about character design for his upcoming novel. Today will certainly be a relaxing and sublime 😀 Sunday.

All to say, I did not have much time for Hive this week apart from a bit of commenting. But at least I have managed to power up a little Hive daily to stay up-to-date with the PUM. We'll see if I will make it, this is a one-time experiment.

All photos were taken on Saturday's bike ride with my iPhone. Not the best ones but not the worst either.

Till next time!

Have a great rest of your day!

Cheers,

Oh wow! I feel you there with the budgeting stuff! Has been a crazy few weeks crunching numbers here. Overspend = bad, Underspend = bad, exactly right = ok! 😅

I went on a couple of cycle rides too, weather has only just changed to some colder rain here.

I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project! Check out our Reading Suggestions posts!

Budgeting the artist in me says 'what a load of bull budgeting is' but then my other brain takes over and says 'numbers numbers numbers got to perform right' - aaaah. I hope your planning phase will be over soon and you can go back to more cycling - as long as the weather is nice enough.

yeah, trust the artist in you! loool

Hello, your first days of September were very busy but you knew how to dedicate a space to Hive, it happens to all of us at some point. Ending the week with a few beers is excellent to start a new week of relaxed work. Nice to interact. greetings.🤗

Thank you, yes, 'busy' is my middle name at work. Wouldn't mind a little slow-down here and there. The beer was not too shabby 😆

Ah the joys of budgets and defending your positions ... I feel you on the time difference colleague, been there a few times!

Hope you enjoyed the brewery and food truck! Beer and chicken is usually a combo that does not get messed up!

Welcome to the 70s hehe I agree with your decade comment though!

Guess what? I 'dropped' again to 69, how is that even possible?! I didn't do anything but blog and power up and - I don't understand. Darn' - celebrated prematurely, sigh, a database problem I guess? Oh well. The 60s were still good though, I mean, I don't have memories, guess you don't either but the whole vibe and music - yup.

lol yes no memories just what I read or watch I guess!
Oh no back to the 60s you go, actually one thing with Hive I never really understood is how often the different front ends would display different reputation scores for a user. I guess hivebuzz is the official one ....
So it appears to be

sad panda oh well, now I'll rock the 60s again 🤣

Looks like you know how to plan

Thanks, I actually do, however, sometimes it feels more like I am being planned for.
