Thousands of frogs breed here.

And at a certain time in a season, they all cross a busy road at the same time.

I will show you some photos of their breeding grounds.

Masses of frogs cross the road and many volunteers step up to help as many as they can to cross safely. Even the traffic on the road gets stopped, forming very long lines of cars that have to wait until the frogs have crossed.
It is a very interesting phenomenon, and we will be there at the next crossing of the frogs. So come and look at the beautiful breeding ground of the frogs.

Somerset West, South Africa (08 March 2021) – The community of Somerset West were left feeling distressed after it was reported that thousands of frogs were crossing the road near the Somerset Mall and being run flat.
Thankfully, the local police came to the rescue, blocking off the road so that the thousands of frogs could be safely ushered across the road. The incident caused quite a traffic jam, but it meant that the frogs could reach the other side safely.

The frogs are only supposed to cross during August and for some reason they were crossing in March.
A number is written on this road sign for motorists to contact when they see frogs crossing the road.

You can imagine how many raptor birds are hanging around during the crossing of the frogs. It reminds me of the mass migration crossing at a river of the Wildebeest with the crocodiles waiting for them in the water.

And then the baby frogs also have to watch out for the Cormorants and other water birds. Here we have a young Cape Cormorant taking off.

And of course the schools of fish in the dam are also another threat to the frogs. Yet thousands of frogs make it to the crossing of the road.

Finally I will finish the post with a mountainscape.

An interesting read I hope and there are so many of Mother nature's secrets to discover in this place. There is a large lake at the other side with much more water and that's where the frogs are headed. So who says that the grass is not greener on the other side?
In the case of the frogs it is a truth, but they have to endure many dangers before they reach their nirvana.

Very similar to our human existence, because so many of us also have to endure many trials in one place, before we arrive at the conclusion that things will be better at the other side. Then finally, we make the decision to move and once we arrive and settle at the other side, we castigate ourselves for not having moved sooner. I also had to endure many trials over many years before I decided to move out and now I am so happy because I have found my place of peace.
Just saying!

And That's All Friends.

That was interesting story and we can learn lesson from them, they also work as team, crossing the road 'in army'. Teamwork is powerful.💪

United we stand and divided we fall.

Yes of course. That's it. Got that right

You got that right. Without team work, hmm. I thing one can't succeed by his or her self

I had the unfortunate experience of hitting a frog crossing in Knysna many years ago. No signs and had no ide this even happened and there was no way to avoid the masses making the car slide all over the road.

Thank goodness you survived to tell the tale and we are glad at the protective action that they implement at every crossing over here. Maybe they should do the same at Knysna methinks, as it could cost some lives.

My friend Alex Jones told me that they're putting chemicals in the water that make the frogs gay.

Nah! I have never heard or read anything about that.
