Gluten-free diet for autistic kids: one friend tried this and gave up after six weeks, saying it was "just too hard" to avoid gluten. Well, he has 8 kids, so, yeah, I can sympathize. But red dye, artificial flavors, preservatives, all the additivies of processed foods can worsen symptoms of autism. We'd all feel better and perform better if we lived like our pre-Depression-era grandparents, who grew all their food on the farm. What they got in town was stored in barrels, and you'd bring your own containers. And that reminds me. I'm due for a trip to the landfill. It's soul crushing to see all the boxes, jars, cans, bottles... this is the RECYCLE area... then all the piles to be buried in the landfill. Ugh. More people need to see this consequence of modern life.
My son improved with this diet. I also try not to take too much wheat. I agree with you that a lot of our diseases are caused by our diet and our lifestyle.
