RE: It's Not You, It's Me

A stunning reflection on womanhood and motherhood, gender and strength of being despite the odds..

Different tack, further along the life cycle, but I was listening to two reviewers talking about a book about middle aged woman, and the authors experience of being one, and how they are seen as hags. I felt like shouting at the radio as they said 'oh, she's a bit extreme, and we don't think it's really like that'. One was a male. The other a young woman. What. The. Actual.

It's a pretty big transition as well :) I'm going through menopause as we comment (it's a f*ckin' hassle #justsayin - but also pretty exciting!). I suppose some would think that's something we shouldn't be proud enough of to share on the internet of amazing things.

It is a rite of passage though and we should celebrate it. All rites of passage should be respected and revered, I reckon.

It is, however, very scary in some ways. Yes. Because youth and value and all that. I think I'll make it out the other side okay. It has it's perks. Men are beginning to call me Ma'am some days. Depending on how much sleep I've had.

Men my age mostly prefer younger women. It is what it is. Some still find me attractive visually. Pretty soon they will not and the ones that "see" still will - those are the ones I'm keen to get to know more about anyway. This will save me time :D

Btw. Younger men prefer women my age. It is what it is 😉

You can always find the sparkly bits in the mud.

Those are usually the diamonds, I've found.

Thanks for your marvelous comment. But that's your marvelous mind shining through. I appreciate you sharing it with me <3

p.s. yes it is like that 👍 But as long as you're still surfing who cares anyway?
