To relate this fantastic story, I have to change all the names. As mad as it sounds, it's absolutely true - I have just got off the phone to my mate hearing the story, and absolutely had to relate it here, as I know you folk will appreciate it. As for what community to post it in, I went with Silver Bloggers because - well, who knows what unknown children you might have in your dark and distant past....
Let's start with my mates husband of some fifteen years. I'll call him Jeff Anderson. Definitely not his real name. My mate whatsapp'd me a photo of a man yesterday and said: Meet Jeff's son, Jon (also not his real name).
What. The. Actual.
The man in the photo is 47. It's not one of Jeff's three grown children. It's a child he didn't know he had.
Or kinda didn't know he had. When he found out who his Mum and Dad were, he realized that made perfect sense.
So it started Monday. Jon, in New Zealand, where Jeff is from, goes on Ancestry.com with his mother, Michelle. Both Jon's parents were adopted, and his father, Bobby, had left him and Michelle when Jon was 9. He had never really got a long with his Dad and so was interested in his family history. Who actually was he? What pieces of the puzzle would explain who he was?
So they go on a well known website that connects people to their family trees, going so far as to enter their DNA. Immediately two people came up as possible siblings with a 23 percent match. Michelle looks at the names and sees the name of Jeff's son, Luke Anderson.
'Holy fuck' she said.
So then it all had to come out, the story she had probably been hiding from herself and everyone else for a long time, as if it hadn't happened at all.
Now there's two stories of Jon's conception, but let's go with this one, which is close enough and it's the story Jeff will stick to for Michelle's sake. If you want to hear the other story, maybe ask me on other socials if you're friends with me there.
The story is that as 17 year olds, he and Bobby were mates. Jeff had slept with Michelle, resulting in the loss of her virginity, but about a week later she had hooked up with Bobby and fallen in love. The last time Jeff had seen the couple before moving up north, meeting his wife and having a family, she was visibly pregnant. He joked that they better be careful, they might find out it was his. Kiwi teenagers, ey.
And that was that, until 47 years later, Jon goes and looks into his family tree and finds the father he more closely resembles, and finds an entire family that thinks the whole story is hilarious and welcomes him with open arms.
By the end of the day, after logging on to find this news, Jon and Jeff had talked at length, and are currently making plans for one of them to fly over to see each other.
Holy Fuck.
What a story.

haha I have a similar story.
Mike, a father himself by this time, gets his ancestry or whatever done, and finds out he has two brothers who have lived next door to him his whole life.
I'll bet this is happening a lot.
No waaaay that's CRAZY!!!! 'im just popping over for sugar' takes on a whole new meaning!
Wow - that is hectic! Hopefully the meeting between the two all goes well.
Isn't it? Just crazy. 'Jeff' is pretty chill and old enough to be adult about it - and Jon sounds like a nice bloke and very much like him! So I reckon it'll be fine. He's got three new grandkids and a great grandson to meet!
it's nice for a change when these sort if stories don't end up in heartbreak and trauma but "with open arms".
exemplary!
Totally. Apparently he was clearly cautious about keeping expectations low but totally stoked when he realized his new found Dad was open and welcoming!

This ⏫ is one of the few good things of the internet. I love the story and am very happy for your mate. That meeting should be pretty epic (after maybe a few awkward moments).
How COOL is this story??? I love those two very much, and the way they've embraced the new found son is awesome.
How very cool! I'm glad all concerned were happy about it.
