Beautiful photos of such an amazing little creature. Love dragonflies ...I once had to have some antibiotics that gave me a sensitivity to sunlight whilst I was taking them. It was awful ...I actually had to stop so I can empathise with your situation. Do they have any idea what particularly is causing the allergic reaction? Is it the UV or Vit d ...just curious ...really interesting thing that has happened to you, and I'm sorry it is impacting you in this way.

Thank you Samantha and when I bought my first camera I spent the first year in self training to get dragonflies.
We or should I say Papillon bought a church property in a high crime area In Johannesburg. This was in 2002. We changed the hall into a computer training center and we rented the church out to Christian groups.
Then in 2012 we had 5 burglary attempts and luckily the people that live in flats around the property scared the burglars away. They knew that we were training their children, but this didn't stop two guys from accosting me at the low wall in the front of the property with one sticking a gun into me neck and the other one with a knife ransacking my pockets.
So after this I decided to raise the walls buy building them up higher and the trouble came when I put a razor wire fence over the top of the wall. I didn't wear gloves and the razor wire cut my hands in many places. Not deep cuts, but only little cuts on both hands.
I put the fence up in broad daylight with a very hot sun shining down, but the sun didn't trouble me, as I was used to it.
Two nights later I couldn't sleep as my hands had weird little burning hives on them. Those little things burned like hell fire and we went to an emergency at a hospital where they gave me some ointment. That however was not a cure and later whenever I went into the sunlight these little things would pop up, first on my hands, then on my legs and elbows to this day.
So since 2012 we have been searching for a cure and we have seen many skin doctors and dermatologists with no answers.
The only thing that help is Cortisone and I use a Cortisone cream and take 1 Cortisone tablet every day.
So the search continues.
Zac.

Gosh, I have never heard of anything like it...what a weird reaction 😔 so strange hey. I am sorry you have to go through this. I hope they find out the reason one day and can help to get rid of it once and for all for you. Yeah crime in JHB got really bad didn't it. We left Durban in 2001 and moved to the UK. It was just getting too close to home for us.🙏 Hope you are having a good festive season !PIZZA !ALIVE
Funny as that is what some of the doctors also said. I still think that some chemical reaction from the razor wire cuts were responsible for the effects.
Thankfully we have gotten used in how to treat it and I have just to keep my hands out of the sun. But how does a nature photographer do that? Impossible.
We were in one of the worst suburbs and it was like a war zone with a difference as it had prostitutes and druggies on every corner.
UK should be a haven compared to this, but we cannot think to emigrate, as too many poor people depend on our charity
All of the very best to you guys for the New Year.
