I quit taking the supplements that alternative health care dude sold me, and I feel a bit better. I think they did the opposite of what he expected them to do. Now I am back to my customary level of fatigue, which I can cope with.
I have been stuck at home for two weeks now, as my vehicle is still in the shop. Despite the mechanic's best efforts, the brakes keep freezing up. I am starting to shop online for another vehicle. At the very least, I will need to rent something for a week.
Every cloud has a silver lining, and in this case it means I already have nearly all of the fall chores done. I've also had time to just sit and read and relax.
My daughter had to go out of her way to pick me up, though, so I could babysit her little girl for 3 days while day care was closed for an inservice. It was annoying to be stuck at her little apartment with no transportation, but we went for walks, and played outside with bubbles in the tiny patch of grass by the parking lot, and went to a rather wimpy fall festival just down the street. I guess the toddler enjoyed the activities, and that's what matters. She got to try a few kid-size carnival games, pet a few animals at a tiny petting zoo, and she got her face painted (a dragon), and we got a photo booth picture taken.
My son came and got me and took me back home Saturday evening. I love my grandchildren, but it's always nice to get home again and rest up. When a toddler is around, everything one does gets interrupted: diaper issues, missing pacifier, cat scratches, leaking sippy cups, dropped bananas, and dead batteries in toys are just a few of the crises to be solved.
Good news! Before I finished this post, I found out my car was ready to pick up! The problem was the hydro booster. I don't speak fluent mechanic-ese, so I don't even know what that is. As long as my car works again, that's all I care.
I had been feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't drive to Farragut State Park, which is so beautiful this time of year. So after I got my car, I headed on over to the park, because it wasn't too many miles away. I was rewarded with some beautiful views of the lake.
It was very quiet and peaceful until a murder of crows began to squawk in the nearby trees. It made me wonder whether there was something dead down by the lake; that would certainly draw a crow crowd. And maybe they were just making crow noise because they could.
What would the world do without grandmothers? I'm sure the whole darned thing would grind to a shuddering halt. Every granny I know is busy looking after their offspring's offspring.
That's quite true! I do love spending time with the little ones. The 3-yr-olds are especially entertaining.
My guess is it was the hydraulic brake booster.
Yep.
