For The Love Of Writing

I love writing. Or rather, I love typing. Getting words out on a screen, either via a mobile or iPad using my thumbs and then editing the text for accuracy, flow and spelling mistakes. Yes, sometimes typos get through but that is usually due to a lack of proper proof reading.

I still have the urge to buy pens and paper notepads though, but I control myself now. I have enough notepads and pencil cases full of pens, retractible pencils, erasers, etc. Many of them unused.

I always carry multiple pens and paper notepad in my backpack just in case. I still take notes on my phone, but then rarely check the notes section my phone which is a really bad habit.

I just need to use the pens, pencils and paper more for creative purposes.

Writing allows me to get into a ”flow state”, but also allows me to meditate and self reflect on issues that might be troubling me.

Publishing posts here allows you, the reader, to give me feedback / suggestions / advice as well.

Not to mention that the upvotes will eventually fund my retirement. Fingers crossed on that.

Ideally I would love to write a few novels, but I think I’ll start with a few small zines and comics just to get a taste for publishing in print form and then move onto bigger projects.

For now I have a loose concepts that I might marry together to become something much tighter, but then again I know that it’s probably best to keep things simple.

Short stories work best in zine format because, unlike a comic book, I can have a page of text with the story and some dialogue and the next page can be a picture / drawing of the action.

I think need to get out of my own way in this regard. Maybe even consider outsourcing the artwork and editing to someone else.

Right now I am working on a larger post for the homeless community of Adelaide, South Australia to be posted on Leofinance.

I can’t show you yet, but I can show you that I can also use Ecency via my laptop too.

Nothing beats using a phone when I am on the go though.

I can find a nice spot at a cafe or a restaurant and order a meal, take a photo and write either a review or just include it in a post like this one.

It also allows me to highlight and promote the city I live in.

Writing not only keeps your mind busy, but it can also lead to personal insights to reflect on and even trigger life changes.

The possibilities and options are endless.

Thank you for reading.

Until next time, insist on dignity and respect in every aspect of your life.

All content, including photos and text, are produced by myself except where indicated otherwise and sources are always supplied. I do not use A.I. so your upvotes support a genuine human being producing original material.

Since leaving school, the tendency to write on a notebook has ended. Whenever there is a need to write somewhere, a mobile or computer notebook is used.

I use all sorts of writing mediums for different purposes. As long as your thoughts are in the physical world it doesn't matter.

It wasn't until my late 20s that I discovered the act of writing my thoughts and ideas down on paper. My whole life before that point I was resistant but now that I am participating I cannot fathom how I lived before writing. It certainly helps in many regards.

Thank you for sharing your views and thoughts about writing. I wish you well on your future ventures!

Writing helps me think clearly and creatively too big bro. Looking forward to seeing more of your work

Hi, @shaidon I think we agree when we write on using notebook and pen to write our posts. I also use the computer but only after I have the idea consebida. Writing is good for me. Thanks for sharing. 🤗

Yes. I also find it easier to refer to a notepad when I need to check something.
Often I have stuff in my phone's notes that goes unchecked for months!

Also, thanks for teaching me a Spanish word.

I also still make notes on bits of paper or in a note book, occasionally use my phone for that. It looks like the art of writing with a pen and paper, may eventually disappear, let's hope it's not forgotten!
But writing/typing is something all true Hivers love.
Happy writing @shaidon ✍️

Thank you for commenting and I agree. I do use a mixture of techniques and mediums.

Hey @shaidon, here is a little bit of BEER from @joanstewart for you. Enjoy it!

Do you want to win SOME BEER together with your friends and draw the BEERKING.

Typing comes naturally to me as it was what I have been doing since around thirteen years of age, diary never far from my hand with retractable pencil taking note of things I do have to remember!

Finding time to collate and transform a piece of work is always an adventure, sharing knowledge on the go, keeping track of places visited or what one does is a great way to keep the mind active!

Feeling for the homeless at the moment. This cold snap is brutal. Look forward to reading it.

As for homelessness in the city, it's getting visibly worse with people sleeping rough in store doorways.

One of my greatest fears is being homeless, and I have seen what the government does when you don't pay the rent or need to go to jail.

Prevention of homelessness is what drives me most lately. I need to find full time work soon otherwise I need to go back on welfare.

It's just a list of free services for the most part, but I realise it could help a lot of people. There’s a guy who hands out a book with the information, so I wanted to condense it all to a readable format.

Apparently 'The Foundry' is a valuable asset, although that might just be younger people.

I'll probably write a seperate section or even a seperate post for youth services.
