Greetings dear Hiveans !! The weekend is over, but then as Christmas and New Year is ahead, the vibe of a new week doesn't make us restless, instead it makes us more energetic. Here is another prompt about What were your favorite books or stories when you were a child? Happy to share the wonderful story book I enjoyed during my childhood.
Why Iam sharing this?
Its another wonderful memory initiated by @ericvancewalton for #memoirmonday
Reading stories was one of the best time in the past. Looking back, we had too many voracious readers while compared to today
The most famous among young Indian readers were the Panchatantra stories of the yesteryears. No wonder it was enjoyed by the young and old due to its beautiful illustrations. The book was so colourful with more of pictures , rather than the writings. .
And the interesting part was most of the stories concluded with a moral . Hence, the book made a wide difference among the other story books. A quiet popular book in our era, it was available in almost every school library.
If you ask about the stories, we mostly had stories based on animals and birds, with colourful illustrations, hardbound papers, thick outer cover. And each character had a name. It also covered stories related to parents, friends, relationships etc. So these books were happily welcomed by most mothers for bedtime stories to children.
Anither interesting fact about this book is - it is easily available in other regional languages of our country as well. This made the whole country to understand the essence of the story in their own regional languages.
Another popular publications, where we as children got attracted was the Amar Chitra Kathas. They are the famous publications of too many epics and tales. The best part which I loved was the comic form, as it was easy to understand the communication of the characters. Epics especially was beautifully written jn ancient english languages. Moreover, this was also illustrated.
But during my college times, I was fascinated by Namcy Drew collections and Enid Blyton's too. One in a detective series while the other were simple stories that are easy ro understand, in easy English.
Photos were captured by me from my home library. Thankyou ecencials for your peaceful visit.
Thank you 😊
You're welcome
Before all this gadgets ruled the world, mostly students before are addicted to books and readings.😌
Exactly. That's very much true. Sometimes I felt our time was the best time.
Comic books
Yes comics
Books ending with a moral were great. Sometimes I feel kids now have no respect for anything.
