Well, a little late with my post, but the power up did happen yesterday 😂
Savings and Emergency Fund
I've finally got my incomings and outgoings under control. It used to be easy: when I got my first proper job, I was paid on the 25th of the month, a week earlier in December, and all the bills went out on the 28th, along with my regular savings. Anything that was left over, I could spend.
Over the years, that's all changed: pay days have moved around and most recently they settled on the 15th of the month: two weeks in arrears and two weeks in advance. That seems fairer than four weeks in arrears.
Then the outgoings started changing: some things were the anniversary of the day of the month they were set up, other things had their own timetable which I never got to the bottom of. But anyway, bill payments could go out any day of the month.
Then I started getting pension income each of those with different income dates. So, I've struggled a bit over the past couple of years, trying to find the break point. That point at which, if there was any excess in the account, it would be transferred to savings.
Finally, in the past couple of months, I've found the place. It was due to being ill one month, so I spent very little, the cash-flow was funded and when the next month's pension payment arrived, I was able to put aside anything over and above the budget for the month.
I guess that was the problem all along: the cash-flow was slightly lagging - all I needed to do was to have a no-buy month! I'm almost back to my desired emergency fund balance, so that's a good place to be.
Saturday Savers Club
The Saturday Savers Club has started with a bang. We've over fifty Savers registered this year with about thirty or so regulars, which is a great place to be. There's a dedicated core of Savers who've been around for several years (the Club is in its fifth year) and it's great to see their progress over time.
One of my goals this year is to increase my SPI holdings. I'm aiming for 12,370 SPI by the end of the year and I'm sitting at about 11,110 SPI today. I think I need to buy about 28 each week to reach my target by the end of the year. My overall plan is to reach 13,950 by the end of 2026.
My second goal is to continue to work towards holding 5,600 EDSI by the end of the year. Last year, I was aiming to reach 4,800 by the end of the year. As it turned out, the value of HIVE fell during the year and I achieved that goal three months early. I have EDSMs and EDSMMs and I'm also delegating to @eds-vote until I reach 5,600. After that, the EDSI will continue to accumulate through the miners. I think EDSI is my favourite token.
One way and another, everything is on track.
Happy HPUD!

Getting the cash flow right so you can save or invest is always tricky. Got to be able to pay the bills. Good luck with your goals.

The ever-changing bills! Heading into a quieter six months, though, so time to boost the savings.
Sounds like everything is on track, and no derailment for you!
Cash flow you nailed it, once you have that buffer then savings can get added to at any point.
Yes, I'm very fortunate, I've been able to keep up with everything. Much more important when you reach retirement.
Yes, it's taken a while to get that under control! 😂
Those are some impressive goals. Out of all the curation projects you delegate to which one would you say is the best?
I'm not sure what you mean by best?
They all help spread my vote as widely as possible.
Nice one. Well done!
Thank you - I got there eventually!
