Well, after a couple of months powering down waiting for a peak higher than the ones we've seen (I'm not greedy, 0.65 USD would have done), I have admitted defeat and powered-up.
Actually, I'm still hedging my bets and keeping some HIVE liquid in case there's a dramatic change between now and 5th April. Although I'm not holding my breath. Come 6 April, I expect to power up the remainder.
On the other hand, I had 15.56 GBP in my wallet, a combination of a tiny monthly pension payment, interest on my current account and cashback for utilities direct debits. As HIVE dropped under .23 USD, I was able to add 79 HIVE to my little nest egg. Swings and roundabouts.
So, I will either be powering up to 144,000 HIVE, or selling a few HIVE and buying back in when HIVE drops the following day. So it could all still be powered up one way or another by 6th April. Let's see.
I read in someone's post that a sure way to lose money was to keep jumping from one thing to another in a bear market! 🤑
I've increased my SPI total to 11,260 - only another 1,110 to go to reach my target for this year. That's about 28 or roughly 140 HIVE a week. Quite ambitious, I may have to extend my deadline to get to 15% of the fund.
I've developed a new little housekeeping regime as part of my Saturday Savers routine:
- check Saturday Savers comments.
- spin the Wheel of Names.
- transfer savings and giveaway tokens.
- check and adjust delegations, witness and DHF proposal votes.
- claim and stake SPS tokens.
- stake and delegate LEO tokens.
- write Saturday Savers Club post.
It's taken me a while to get to grips with DHF proposals but thanks to blanchy's work on Value Plan, now I have. It's good to have built checking those into a routine, alongside checking what's happening with the witnesses I vote for.
Tempting though it is to write an April Fool's ruse, regrettably I don't have the imagination.
There we are.
Happy HPUD, Savers!

Definitely a good idea to power up HIVE slowly and save some for later. Patience they say is a virtue. I myself will try to diversify my savings for more options in the future
For a long time I was building my account, so I powered up every .001 HIVE 😂. Liquid HIVE always gives me itchy feet, can't settle one way or another 🤣.
Are you diversifying on HIVE or further afield?
other platforms but I think I'll have to jump to defi space, can't trust security of centralized ones anymore. Hive is a place I'm starting to like so I start with building relationships here and organic stakes then next thing I add some skin in the game and invest good
Take your time, build your relationships.
I went to one of the annual HiveFests to check people out in person when I started to invest. It depends where Hivefests are in the world to be feasible for people to attend, but they are fabulous if you can get to one.
yeah I actually watched one of the videos recorded of the previous HiveFest after watching that it changed my mind on Hive, I see the deep community and connection here and this project is not just a platform, it's a home.
Thank you for the advice I'll follow it to the letter and keep strengthening my relationships here
💪 🚀 🔥
I appreciated reading about some of the decisions you have made, @shanibeer. In particular that I am not alone with the thought of keeping some HIVE liquid. There seems to me to be a lot of commentary on that being frowned upon, but maybe I have gotten that wrong.
I certainly like the discipline you seem to be a good example of, for the sake of others in your saving club. I hope it all continues to go according to plan.
My liquid HIVE was predicated around the end of the tax year, but it looks like my cunning plan has been foiled by the markets. Oh well, we'll HODL on.
How is your journey going? Are you enjoying Hive?
Good question, @shanibeer. Being open and honest in answering, I would say it is a bit of a mixed bag, so far. I think the most succinct way someone referred to it is our experiences in this virtual world are not that much different from real life.
All the differing ways human nature is on fully display are unavoidable.
As I went into a bit recently, for me to continue on, I just need to do what I can to keep the idea of getting paid to interact with others separate from what means the most to me. What is that?
Experiencing genuine interaction with others all over our shrinking world. My impression of this social experiment is getting paid to engage with others is a complicating factor which I did not understand.
Thank you for asking!
Interesting.
I've always had fun here, learned loads, too. Infinitely less expensive than an MBA.
Agreed there is a lot to learn, in choosing to invest time into a virtual world like this.
That's some really sweet strategy. I had itchy hands too and I powered up everything I had, unfortunately that wasn't the right strategy, and I could have done some back and forth with HBD to have more Hive power. I think all of these will eventually pay off when Hive is over 1$
I briefly tried the HBD:HIVE thing, but I didn't have the patience!
I'm better as a set and forget investor. I think if you leave it long enough, you make some money 😂.
But I agree, it will all turn out when we reach 1$.
I think it's for the people who are better at predicting on the short term. I tried it and I did woefully. So I just forget profit in the short run and focus on the long run.
💪 🔥 🚀
Yep, perhaps liquid Hive wasn't the best option... I can see myself, but once I took that road...
15% of SPI?? Wow!
I was organising around the end of the tax year but the markets didn't get the memo 🤷♀. Never mind, there's always another time 😂.
Currently just over 12%. My original ambition was to own 10% (of 1 million SPI 😂). Luckily for me, it was hard-capped at 100,000. I have owned 10% for several years now.
I think you might be waiting for a while to hit 0.65, I have set 0.25 as the benchmark for the rest of the year. No problem if I am wrong!
That is a great routine, and hats of to blanchy informing us of some of the value plan antics, and indeed DHF in general.
Happy HPUD!
Yes, and doesn't take too long 😍
