It's Saturday and normally I would be doing a Saturday Savers Club post but, for the first time in four years, I'm having a week off.
I wanted a bit of space to think about my own plans for next year and check that I had most things in place, if not the fine detail.
Hive
During 2024, I've put in place my kitty for 2025.
My original idea was to recover my fiat investment in 2025 based on my sell price. Now I've extended my idea to 2026 when, with any surplus, I'll buy back into HIVE when it reaches my buy price.
I've learned a lot from holding SPI tokens and following how those funds are managed. I'm not too worried about the top and the bottom: I've set the buy and sell prices that I'm comfortable with and which will achieve my plans.
It's interesting how, once you start saving for what seems to be an almost unobtainable goal, although it can be a struggle at the start, before you know where you are, you've reached it and a new goal and new opportunities are opening up before you.
I'm mainly a set and forget person and that seems to work for me. I have put a small amount of liquid HIVE aside to learn how to do some small trades where you make a little each time. Just for fun and to develop my skills and experience.
Bitcoin
One idea that came up recently was about buying $100 worth of Bitcoin and watching what happens to the price over time, starting to buy again when the $100 purchase is worth $50. That's an interesting experiment that I'm going to try.
HBD
I like HBD, I'll continue to use it for short-term savings and holding funds that I have other plans for mid-term. I'm contemplating whether to maintain some long-term funds in HBD: I'll review that later.
SPI and EDSI
I hold about 11% of the SPI investment and growth token fund. I may grow that a little if there are opportunities, but I'm also quite happy with what I have (my original plan was to own 10% of the fund). I like SPI because the funds are managed and I don't have to think about should I buy this or sell that.
I plan to hold 2.5% of the EDSI fund when all the tokens are distributed (about seventeen or eighteen years or so for the miners). I've boosted my accumulation in 2024 through delegating to @eds-vote and buying @eds-d, reaching my 2024 goal three months early. I'll review again when I reach my next goal.
SPI and EDSI provide weekly dividends or income in liquid HIVE. I think both of these are going to come into their own over the next two to five years. EDSI is a forever income, of course.
Staving off Boredom
The big challenge for me this coming ten or eleven months will be not getting bored. Most things are in place and it's a question of waiting. I'm going to have a few small savings/learning goals like the HIVE trades and watching Bitcoin to keep me busy and prevent me from making any wild moves.
To be fair, I also have plenty to keep me busy off-chain!

I was flipping Hive and HBD the other year for a little while and it was quite fun, then Hive price stayed constant for a long time so that was the end of that.
On BTC, I'm still enjoying watching my £1 BTC that I bought in Revolut when BTC was £5k, and seeing that grow, currently it's worth £15 which is making me very happy. I'm very happy to please 😂

I bet 😂 Revolut was very popular with the women who came to the summer workshops. Lots of women had bought £100 worth of tokens. It seems an easy way in.

I have a thought that there will be two major peaks for the Hive coin: the first one will be a false peak to absorb sell-offs during the pullback, and the second one will be the real peak with more interesting targets. Something similar happened in 2021-2022. One thing is certain though: the growth will be accompanied by corrections, so trading a specifically planned portion of the coins for this purpose might make sense.

I've been collecting/trading BTC since 2018.. It's been quite a ride. Still HODLing my original purchase. Excited to see what happens in 2026 when the bull market hits it peak.

Tokens tokens and more tokens. Funnily enough I have just been evaluating what I want to achieve in 2025 on Hive for me and @mmonline as well as off Hive. Bitcoin is great and anybody in crypto should be trying to hold as much as possible of it.
One plan I do have however, is that any profits I make from trades/testnets or airdrops, I will take half of the profits and invest them into Bitcoin.
As for the boredom, I know you will never get bored, but did you start the art degree that you mentioned quite some time ago?
The plan would have been to start that in September 2025. But since I started the original plan (including an access course), I've been asked to do more work where I was previously employed and I will probably keep doing that until March 2026 (and maybe less hours on a consultancy basis after that). As well, the house refurbishment/living in two places/family stuff have taken over and will probably take a while to sort out. But I am still looking at September 2026 and maybe three months in Venice when the next Biennale is on - it's going to be my savings goal starting in January!

I also like BCH - mainly for peer-to-peer payments and transfers. I'm looking into BTC as an investment.

I like BCH because of its fast transfers and low fees. So, if I am transferring crypto to a different wallet, I convert it to BCH first.

Bitcoin Cash which forked from Bitcoin in 2017 if i remember. They used to have a blogging site called read.cash where so many of us met before coming to hive (ifarmgirl, coquicoin, jane1289, lhes and so many more).

i admire your "financial" organisation. I've only really focussed on DCA'ing BTC so far and now seem to have created a bit of rythmn for that. I'd like to spend more time in 2025 learning about other currencies and having a bit of a play with small amounts. I'd also like to create more of a plan with BTC although I'm not sure the environment is ready yet for my long term goal which is to create passive income from it. I also need to workout some sort of strategy to take profit from Splinterlands. Lots to learn and lots to do but so far it's been low on my list of priorities.
DCAing BTC is a great place to be. Not sure how you would create passive income from it? I mean, I'm sure there is a way, but I don't know it 😂. Ah yes, Splinterlands, I have a small investment there that I need to keep an eye on. I check each week but so far numbers has only gone down. LEO is the other one, but I think I will just keep that on the back burner. I need to check Larynx, too, I have no idea what is happening to that. Maybe I won't get bored, after all.
