Fresh Snow Falling It's a Winter Wonderland - by Sunscape

We have been getting a few inches of snow every few days since the New Year started. This week we got another fresh layer after the sun melted the first 4" we got earlier. After shoveling and snow-blowing paths for Mika to wander in the yard, it started snowing heavily again. I put on my boots and went around to capture some of the beauty. The evergreens at the back of my yard were mostly buried and some of the branches were starting to bend over from the heavy snow.

The buds on the Kousa Dogwood tree looked so pretty with the entire tree catching little snowflakes.

Mika came out with me while I took photos and this was how much snow fell after my husband had made paths for her.

It is so cold that even the birds stay in the shrubs for shelter. They hadn't come to the feeder to eat seeds or visit the suet cakes on the greenhouse.

The birdhouses around the yard are all covered in snow. When the sun finally comes out the birds will sit inside the houses to warm up. I can see them doing it all winter long from the kitchen window.

The yard takes on a whole different vibe in the winter with all the snow covering the shrubs and trees. I miss summer but have to admit that I love it when we have snow too.

The pine tree and the evergreens are the prettiest when covered in snow.

The vegetable garden is taking a long winter rest before I get back to planting out cold-hardy veggies in March.

I went into the greenhouse to get a couple of pots and to my surprise, it was fairly warm compared to outside.

The thermometer shows it at 35°F and outside it was 20°F. If we have some decent days at the end of February and the nights are not too cold, I will be starting up the hydroponics for lettuce and Bok Choi. I will be starting those seeds this week.

The A-frame birdhouse on the Dogwood is starting to show some age. I hope it doesn't fall apart before I can repair it. I should do that before spring arrives and the nesting season starts.

These Forsythia bushes line the western side of my yard. I took this photo of the first snowfall and the birds spend a lot of their days inside these bushes. They started chirping when I went to get into the car so I snapped a photo of them. I think they thought I was bringing them some bread.

This is my Cedar tree in one of the butterfly gardens near the road. It is stunning covered in fresh wet snow and that is why I truly appreciate the winter landscape.

Thank you, Mike I imagine you are getting some of the same weather as I am.

Not much snow here on L.I. just an inch but extreme cold keeping it around.

Who can say that winter is not beautiful and if we see it there in your photos much more. They are really spectacular. This opportunity you give us to see beautiful things in such a snowfall brings back many memories. Thank you @sunscape happy weekend. 🥰❤️

Thank you, Mamani I do love how beautiful the snow makes the landscape.

Quite a transformation of your garden! I could feel the freezing cold from the photos.
Hope all the birds would stay warm and healthy.

Yes, the snow changes everything and the birds do stay cozy in the evergreens and shrubs. I feed them well so they have good energy to stay warm too.

What beautiful photos of the snow😍

Thank you, Denisse the snow is so pretty and Mika loves romping through it all. You have summer and I have winter, lol.

That's right, it's eternal summer here, my dear Sunscape. I'm just thinking about going to the beach tomorrow and taking some nice photos and sharing them here.

Have fun in the sun!

That cedar is really lovely in its snow coat. We've just had the one storm last Monday so far...knock wood! Still white here and still bitter cold until tomorrow. Then we get a 2 day respite and back to the deep cold again.

That is the weather we have been having, up and down, snow, melting with the sun, and then more snow. It sure is pretty but I have been keeping the drapes closed a lot to keep the house a bit more snug. Planting seeds all week for me. :-)

You start so much earlier than I can. Sigh, March 1 for me.
