Another posting on our trip to Powers Farm Market. My niece's favorite place to visit when she comes to New York.
We had beautiful weather the week she was here and it was perfect timing to enjoy the #hayride through the woods. It is funny how things have changed over the years. I remember being pulled by an old, rusty red tractor and the wagon actually had haybales to sit upon. Now, they are pulled by a fancy John Deere and the wagon has wooden benches to sit on. Personally, I miss the haybales as they gave the ride an authentic feel.
We gathered into the wagon along with a lot of other parents with young children. My niece was explaining to her friend Stephanie how much she enjoyed this as a child.
The entrance to the woods has this sign above that says "Witches Hollow". The tractor stops here and rings a very large bell on a post. Then, in the distance, you hear a spooky voice welcoming you to the hollow. Then the journey begins.
There are so many different things to see while riding through the woods. It is difficult to capture them all as they are on both sides of the wagon.
Spooky, creepy, funny, and frightening things are scattered everywhere. Bodies pop up out of nowhere, tombstones reveal skeletons galore, and the children on the ride are screeching with delight.
The gravedigger is one of my favorites. This year there were a lot more skeletons hanging up in the trees. I liked this one with the raggedy skirt still on it.
You have to admit that the creativity in these settings is pretty awesome. Another of my favorites was the witches stirring the cauldron. It really looked real and a young boy said it was scary, but not too much because they were far enough away.
The hanging bats and spiders creeped out even the adults when they would suddenly drop above our heads just enough to make us jump. lol
This old car was very cool, but the bloody clown face, not so much! Normal clowns are often scary enough without all the gore, right?
This concludes the hayride through the woods. I did enjoy it along with all the kids laughing and screeching during the ride. My visitors from South Dakota had a fabulous time as well. Stephanie seemed to enjoy seeing all the spooktacular displays and maybe one day she will come to N.Y. for another visit.

That looks so cool and I am with you I prefer the feel of hay to make it more authentic but then I grew up on a farm so maybe biased!
Me too! The hayloft was my favorite place to hang out besides with the cows and horses. Hay is the best!

Hi @sunscape a real party and how much creativity. That hay wagon ride something spectacular. So are the traditions in different places, I loved it, something different and novel unlike the city. The important thing is what they enjoyed. A time of fear, laughter and screams. Halloween is over, now new emotions will come with the end of the year. Happy weekend.🤗🥰
Yes, the hayride was amazing and a favorite thing to do with the children during October and they go home with pumpkins. Now, that that is all over, it is time to think about my favorite holiday, Christmas. ♥
