Heart 2 Heart sea glass style at Methil Heritage Centre

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

I hope you are being spoiled and pampered today. Mind you why should it only be for one day!

We tend not to make a big deal about Valentine's anymore as it has become yet another commercial cash grab! But, I do tend to pick up a discounted orchid as shops seem to get them in and don't look after them. Not that I am complaining.

Ironically we have just come back from a Valentine's special lunch and are having a painting and sipping session in a local pub tonight. Fluff knows where all this has come from!

Last weekend I signed up for a crafting class. We well Mrs T collects sea glass or as they call them mermaid's tears, and I saw a glass where you could decorate something with them!

Let the fun and games commence

We got a purple apron to wear and a seat at a table. Sea glass and pottery sherds were at the head of the table.

image.png

The teacher, a jovial lady from Wales had picked all the sea glass and labeled it.

There was glass from our local beach in Kirkcaldy that we collect sea glass from.

Interestingly she had glass from the Shetland Isles!

Well Mr traveller had worked up there for a couple of years when I was in charge of a decommissioning project at the oil and gas terminal. So I knew the beach she had collected it from. Turns out that her fiance is up there working and she is moving there in March.

The blank canvas ~ A plexiglass heart

She actually got them hand made from a small vendor on etsy.

I do think it was quite a cute heart shape. You know there really are loads of heart shapes once you start looking.

image.png

The blue gun is a glue gun and you stuck the sea glass, pottery sherds or even sea shells to the heart with glue ... Well that was the theory!

image.png

image.png

Pick your glass and plan your design she said....

image.png

There you can see the gun in the top right hand corner besides a Tunnoch's tea cake, marshmallow covered in chocolate anyone?

You can see Mrs T had started off already...

Coffee time

Well I need a drink to get me going!

Heart or Christmas Tree

We were given a choice to either do the heart or a christmas tree that lights up. The girl on the top left chose the tree that you can see.

However, being Valentine's the next weekend I said we would do hearts.

image.png

I wanted shells!

The birth of Squidward

I can see shapes in anything, well I say the shells and said Squidward from Sponge Bob Square Pants!

I am the only one that saw it?

image.png

Mrs T who after decades of marriage just ignores my fluffing antics was busy creating her 3D masterpiece.

image.png

The face is more screaming than Squidward I think!

But I did try with eyebrows a nose and wee mouth!

image.png

image.png

Let the gluing commence!

So all the pieces on the heart have now been glued into place!

image.png

I was lagging behind, but we were sharing the gun.

Someone finished and so I used that gun which meant I could speed up!

image.png

War wounds

Yes the glue is hot glue and surprise surprise your skin does not react kindly to getting hot glue put on it!

It was alright the blisters left after a couple of days!

image.png

image.png
Mrs T was just about finished!

image.png

And so was I!

The finished heart from me

image.png

image.png

heart 2 heart

No idea where the name of that old TV show came from.

Here we go, the heart made by Mrs T is on the left and mine on the right.

image.png

The class ran from 11am to 1pm and we paid £30 each and got to keep our hearts.

image.png

I did paint the edge of mine a pinky purple colour for added effect!

image.png

It was a really fun couple of hours and indeed it was fun day out as it was in another town!

image.png
image.png

String was used as a means to hang it up.

image.png

I thoroughly enjoyed it and I am about the least crafty and creative person you will meet!
image.png

Happy Valentine's Day to you!

Well thank fluff we don't work on a Friday as not only did we go out for a Valentine's Day lunch but am not heading out the door to do a painting class with the same art teacher...

We each paint one half of a painting then stick them together.

The class is being held in a pub ... This could get messy!

Mr. @tengolotodo 🌹🏹

That's so sweet of you to go to a craft class with Mrs T. My one would never do that 😏

Very cool! But that hot glue can burn you pretty good if you aren't careful! I love finding sea glass, it's everywhere around the world! Some places more than other for sure, but it is pretty!

Happy Valentines day boss boss. Both hearts look good. Who knew you could be creative 😁

That turned out wonderful! Sorry about the hands!

I love that idea: making crafts as a couple! I don't know if Venezuelan men do something like that, but I think it's great. And then what do they do with the hearts? Do you exchange them: she gives you the one she made and you give her yours? Keep having fun, Ed! Happy day and hugs
