Sunday Shower Day

in Silver Bloggers7 days ago

Hello Hello Hivians.

After buggering off to fluff knows where, the sun came back from his holiday today. Which was great but also not the best of good timing for me as there was stuff to be done!

Sunday Shower Day.png

Today was shower day.

It reminded me of being a wee kid years and years ago when we had baths on a Sunday night to conserve water.

I remember one day visiting my parents in Aberdeen and they had a guest. A girl called wee Jenny who used to be our neighbour in Craigavon in Northern Ireland.

Now we left there when I was five so you know I am talking about being a teeny toddler.

Mothers have an uncanny ability to embarrass their children..

Well much to my and indeed Jenny's surprise, out came a couple of pictures that my mother had secretly found of a bath time.

Yes in the tub was a young Edward and a young Jenny having a bath together!

It was kinda cute and a shame that the picture has long since disappeared!

Back to the shower ....

Mrs T had insisted that she wanted to repot some of our plants. Which was fine and dandy, it meant I sourced some houseplant compost and had it delivered.

Well today was that day.

That is what I meant about the sun coming on the wrong day. I fancied going out to Raith Lake to see if there were any new swan babies, as I haven't been out there this year.

Well that never happened as Mrs Green Thumb was knee deep in brow shite compost soil.

But I am glad she did, they were getting root bound and are much happier.

So in I popped to the bathroom and yep some of the plants had just been given a shower.

I wanted to wash my hands ....

More fluffing plants!

Not to worry, I used the kitchen sink.

I went to see what she was upto... there she was on the floor, caressing the fluffing leaves. They get more attention than poor Cinderfella!

Spring cleaning at its finest. The leaves were dust free, clean and green looking!

Not to worry, I took myself off to my sanctuary...

My sanctuary being the kitchen and knocked up an Ed's special.

An Ed's special is basically checking the fridge and seeing what needs eating up before it goes off!

image.png

There was mince or ground beef, coriander or cilantro, mushrooms and carrots that all needed eating up.

Spaghetti thought I, and was reminded of the filipino fast food chain Jollibee which has spaghetti. I had my first one last year and was surprised to find that their spaghetti which people often had contained carrots ...

So I added my obligatory bulb of garlic, some red onions and a swathe of hot spices.

I did figure that a hot and spicy spaghetti bolognaise would help get rid of that blasted lingering cold!

Spaghetti was cooked and the dish served up!

Spaghetti Bolognaise Ed's special style

It did its job and was delicious. It will also do for Mrs T's lunch tomorrow!

It most certainly helped cleared my head and I must admit that right now I feel the best I have felt for fluffing weeks!

Roll on a productive and prosperous April for all of us!

Thanks so much for popping in and have a great new week!

Haha, Ed, you know how to make a gal chuckle. There I was puzzling over your title, picturing you having your weekly shower😂 and thinking you must have a sponge bath the rest of the week seeing it's still wintry on your side of the world🤣 I was half asleep, so I have an excuse besides having a mop of grey, but I knew there was a catch!

After buggering off to fluff knows where, the sun came back from his holiday today.

Glad the sun is back from its holiday! We've been having so much rain lately that even our sunny province is crying out for it! The only thing then is it gets unbearably hot, you can't have it all!

Tell Mrs. T she is lucky to have a resourceful chef in the kitchen. Your spaghetti Bolognaise looks delicious. I like cooking that way, using whatever I can lay my hands on in the fridge and pantry. One gets to know what will work and what won't, right? You need to start taking photos of the process and share it with the Foodies community. But we'll need to see you in action with your apron on!
Have a wonderful week, Cinderfella, and don't be so jealous of the poor plants🤣

Creativity at it's finest pinnacles my friend! Using up all the items that would otherwise go to waste, always a smart move. It looks like it came out pretty good, then again you had some nice ingredients to start with in the first place. All flavors I enjoy!

The plants will be grateful for their shower I'm sure. I don't remember anything from being a toddler, then again I have to think for awhile to figure out what I had for breakfast. But it is fun to see those old family pictures. I've been organizing a lot of pictures of my son on my old computer, so the files can be kept properly backed up.

I hope it was a good weekend!

Yeah it was a good weekend thank you, and hope it was the same for you.

I do love knocking up something from what we have in the fridge, never really been one for using recipes. Just buy the main ingredients and throw it all together as we go along.

Oh yes I remember you saying your exwife hadn't sorted those pics out properly 🤣

That's my specialty too, Ed: seeing what's in the fridge and making magic. hahahahaha. I'd give a piece of my kingdom to see that childish photo in the shower. hahahaha. I would have added a pinch of cumin, lots of white pepper and bay leaves to the pasta, although the cilantro surely added quite a bit of flavor to the stew. A Sunday hug, Ed!

Heheh black pepper, white pepper, paprika, hot chilli powder and some cumin. I am not really a herb fan with basil and bay leaves and that sort of thing.
Hehe yeah it was a cute photo. A big Sunday hug sent to Venezuela Nancy

Ramblings indeed, @tengolotodo, but certainly enjoyable to read through. You have an interesting sense of humor:

"Yes in the tub was a young Edward and a young Jenny having a bath together!"

As one example, good ole Mom! 😉 Heart of gold? Or maybe some other element comes to mind? 😉 Hahaha ...

"An Ed's special is basically checking the fridge and seeing what needs eating up before it goes off!"

As another, one which I can relate to and I would imagine many others as well.

Glad to find you doing some gardening. Coming inside from being out in the sunlight is hard to beat. I have been doing some gardening myself. Or at least preparation for some, when it warms up a bit more.

There is something about being outside and tending to these relatively simple chores that brings peace of mind. The work is never fully done. Unlike most any of form of work, though, it is very rewarding to see tangible results almost daily.

I love to ramble hehe. Of course with all these rumblings happening on Hive at the moment about what is considered quality content and this and that it is probably frowned upon by those in charge as bringing no value to the chain.

Oh well the gardening was all inside, these were house plants. We gave up our garden when we downsized into a flat with no real garden as such!

I hope you get some warmth soon :)

Yes, well, @tengolotodo:

"Of course with all these rumblings happening on Hive at the moment about what is considered quality content and this and that it is probably frowned upon by those in charge as bringing no value to the chain."

It is a sad spectacle, from my vantage point. I am pretty well past any notion that quality content carries much weight in the overall consideration of too many of these accounts. Should that not be left to the subjective opinion of those actually reading posts, like I have been doing?

No need to answer. Keep rambling away! 🤝

Wow, spaghetti Bolognaise....how deliciously delightful.

hehe well spicy and tasty, it had to be done!

I would like to see that photo but it already disappeared😌. Your spaghetti looks yummy and perfect for dinner tonight😛😬.

Hehe I know, I should have made a copy of it lol!
Yeah the spaghetti was delicious :)
