Hello Hello Silver Bloggers and everyone else hello!
I was looking through some posts recently and decided that I would join in the fun!
Help! Well more precisely Helping!
You can catch his original post here or the prompt for this Memoir Monday #48 (2/3-2/9) - What Simple Pleasures Bring You Joy?
It has been a while since I participated in the Memoir Monday initiative that was created by @ericvancewalton
First of all, I am going to draw your attention to this ...
I believe that as we get older, our tastes, our interests and even our needs change, not only because we have achieved many of those things, but also because we change and what made us happy before, does not make us happy now.
Memoir Monday #48 (2/3-2/9) - What Simple Pleasures Bring You Joy?It is the opening sentence to a post from @nancybriti1 answering this prompt, and you can read her full pleasures in
But it got me thinking. My simple pleasures when I was 20 or 25 are vastly different to what they are now!
Gone are the days of partying hard and working hard, the hardcore fights and following of rangers football club all over europe and the womanising.
Now it is all much more sedate! The birds are still there although they seem to be more of the feathered variety now!
So let's get this fluffing show on the road!
I have always loved to help
Although I am Chemical Engineer by degree, I, later in life took a Masters in Knowledge Management as I have always had a passion for helping people and sharing knowledge throughout my life.
When I saw this prompt and many of the posts, I thought I could reel off a load of one liners.
I like this
I like that
I love that
Oh I really fluffing love that!
But then realised that it would look like something you used to see in teen magazines.
And here we have this week's guest Tengo...
So Tengo what gives you pleasure?
Well readers, if you must know, what gives me most pleasure is waking up in the morning.
Generally I wake up the morning because my painkiller has worn off and my lower back is in pain.
But there is a pleasure in that pain! It means I am alive!!
Rather than make a list of things I am going to pick 4
Being out in the fresh air
This could mean walking in the woods, for example meeting our local wizard...
Or it could mean beachcombing on one of the local beaches, collect pottery sherds and mermaids tears for example.
Helping nature
Sometimes the local wildlife is grateful for some food. And why not feed them, they make such wonderful models.
Take Sammy for example?
Or the three pie children!
The beauty of this is that it is down to Hive. I use earnings from Hive to buy all the bird food, and squirrel food.
So by liking my posts you are indirectly helping to feed the wildlife!
So they and I say thank you, we appreciate you!
Helping people and sharing knowledge
Many years ago I first worked in Africa and boy oh boy did my eyes pop.
I was 23 and for the first time I stared poverty in the face. We in the west don't know how lucky we are.
Yes we can be homeless, but there are places to help, there are food banks, there are places that can give you a hot meal etc.
In Africa when I went into the jungle. There were shacks as huts, the kids just had holy underpants as clothing, shoes what the fluff were they.
I used to work three months on and one month off or on vacation. So I would come back with the two suitcases of clothes and things and at the end of the three months give everything I had to some of the kids and parents I met.
In the end I actually sponsored a brother and sister through school and ultimately university. The girl is a doctor in Paris and that made my day. I was tempted to say she was my purpose in life. Since she got that job, her whole village has been transformed with the money she sends home.
I try to do it on Hive. Someone who started Hive more or less the same time as me and has become somewhat of a lovable troublesome daughter is @deraaa , and together we have a project @mmonline where we have a website and trying to help people earn money.
In the process she is going to pick up wordpress and content editing and creation skills amongst other things and in turn pass knowledge she gleans onto others.
Being Merry
I have always loved to entertain and shudder to think how many parties I have hosted over the years in umpteen countries, not to mention the money I have spent on giving others a good time instead of saving for my retirement.
Ah well fluff it I live in the now. It didn't help that as a kid I believed I would not live to see 50. I never knew my paternal grandfather. He died when my father was 12 and I got it into my head that I would die like he did, a heart attack at 48.
Isn't it strange how things we incorrectly assume as a child have such a baring on us all throughout life!
I love Rangers Football Club, #rtid Rangers Till I Die!
When I was younger I followed them everywhere, but left that to the younger generations.
What we used to get upto there, you get arrested for now. Changed days!
Drink, I was the typical Scot and could drink and drink, now a glass of beer and I am fine. As a 25 year old it would have been a brewery!
But Cooking and eating has always been a pleasure of mine and what better way than to finish with a simple healthy duck salad!
Thanks for visiting I hope this brought you some joy!
All images and ramblings are from me, the mad Scotsman TengoLoTodo. Photos taken with my smartphone.

Eating was my pleasure, but not cooking! Lol
I agree, as we age our preferences change and we want something simple.
I even imagine myself during the retirement having coffee at the balcony while eating root crops I planted 😆
What root crops?
Is that coffee from beans you grew too?
What a wonderful, positive post, a good reminder that we can find joy anywhere if we have the proper attitude! Such good vibes! You have some lovely photos and life experiences! 😊
Thank you so much kitty. We all have our crosses to bare but there is joy everywhere!
I find it much easier being positive than negative, don't you?
As always your posts are filled with such charisma and attitude.
They are simply fun to read😂😂✨
Attitude ... good I hope?
You have a lovely heart, and quite an inspiration.
Same here and I believe the good comes back in some other way, making us happy. Hope mmonline makes more people's life happy and meaningful.
Thanks Sanjeev, exactly, good comes back to us in a variety of ways!

I have so many things to say, but I don't know if words are enough to express what I feel! I admire not only your ability to reinvent yourself, from chemical engineer to a master's degree in Knowledge Management is a big leap, I also admire your inclination to help other people (I can vouch for your support). When you talk to me about sponsorship, I know that feeling (I have many godchildren who make me very proud) of helping someone as if they were your own child. I like collecting “mermaid tears”. I think I have had my hands on many. If I don't hug you tight, I'm a fool. A big hug, my friend!
Ah Nancy, well I can safely say that you are not a fool. So hug me more! Oh yes you have lots of godchildren and I know how much you like to help too. Knowledge is knowledge and we are similar in the respect, the difference is just on our words. A big Sunday hug to Venezuela my friend :)
I think you have planned your future life very well, not old age because we are still young in spirit and I know that everything you have thought of will bring you happiness. Don't give up your beer, your good food, your favorite equipment and your walks in nature that will always do you a lot of good. A hug @tengolotodo.🤗😘
You are so right @mamani we live life and as you say we are young in spirit!
As I say, do what you love and do it often! Big hugs and enjoy your day🤗
Reading this post filled my heart with so many emotions—gratitude, admiration, and a deep appreciation for the kind of person you are. You have such a generous spirit, always finding ways to help, whether it’s through sharing knowledge, supporting people, or even feeding the little creatures around you. It’s rare to meet someone who gives so selflessly, and I feel truly lucky to have crossed paths with you.
Your story inspires me, not just because of what you’ve done but because of who you are—a person who finds joy in lifting others up. The way you sponsored those kids and changed lives is something truly beautiful. You remind me that kindness has a ripple effect, reaching far beyond what we can see.
I’m proud to know you, proud to have witnessed your goodness, and I just want to say—thank you for being you. The world is brighter because of people like you. 💙
Thank you so much for your kind words Madi. We try to do what we can.
I love this, and it is so true, and I wish people would remember that.
I know what you mean, you don't know poverty until you live in the third world. I never made it to Africa, but spent many years in South America. People in first world countries like ours really don't know how lucky they have it, and never will unless they make that journey into the jungle and see how they live! I'm glad you helped out those kids, I've done similar programs and it really changes their lives. Great job!
Nice animal pics too! So that's how you ended up working in gas and oil, the chemical engineering. Great post!
!DUO
You just got DUO from @thebighigg.
They have 1/1 DUO calls left.
Learn all about DUO here.
Yeah a Chemical Engineer or Process Engineer which was the term in O&G then project management.
You will have seen similar things too in South America, and it shows how lucky people in our countries have it.
We have it really easy, even on the hardest days here, it beats living in a hut or a shack
We really do.
It is very true that with age our little pleasures change and many times become simpler. I don't know why when we were young we insist on seeking pleasure in banal things that in the end don't matter a bit and only provide an ephemeral and transitory pleasure.
I love what you do with those you help and I know you are almost a father figure to Deraa and I love that. You have such a noble heart 💙 even though sometimes you want to be seen as a curmudgeon 🤣😂
And thanks for the small pleasure of showing me a picture of Sammy and the Pies, I missed them as much as I miss the small pleasure of reading Eddie Wildlife's adventures 😉
Happy weekend, Super Ed!😽💙
Hola Super Eli jeje Eddie Wildlife has been hibernating for sure! But we do change and and so what gives us pleasure.
Who says I amn't a curmudgeon 🤣
Eddie W. is hibernating with Archie Cameron 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
ooooo so cutting is Super Eli 🤣🤣🤣
My perspective in life is still blurry😬😑. Astray.😤. But simple things bring me joy also. Like talking and walking with nature with the sound of silence.😌
Asia talks to nature? What does she say?
I'm sharing with them what's happening in my life😛.
hehe that is cute, do they speak to you, like they do with me?
Thank you
