I wish I would have gone with metal roofing long before this. I've got 4 other outbuildings besides the main house and they are all asphalt shingles.
The snow on our home can get to be over two feet at some point in the winter and an ice dam always happens at the edge of the roof, putting a lot of stress on the structure. In the past, I've gotten on the roof to shovel some of the snow off, no fun!
