once again I have a great story to tell of the everyday life of my hobbies and their joys. I've already done a post about home-moulded candles, but never about how I got such a quantity of old candle wax scraps. So today I want to tell you about my candle wax clear-out.
It was a sunny afternoon when I made my way to a house clearance. The air was filled with the excitement of discovering hidden treasures and giving new life to old items. When I arrived, I was warmly greeted by the organisers and given a tour of the house. The owner of the house was a freelance artist and the whole house was full of creative surprises. The house, designed by her husband, an engineer, promised lots of space and labyrinthine rooms with something new to discover everywhere.

wieder einmal habe ich eine tolle Geschichte des alltäglichen Lebens meiner Hobbys und ihrer Freuden zu erzählen. Ich habe schon einen Beitrag über selbstgegossene Kerzen gemacht, aber nie darüber, wie ich an eine solche Menge an alten Kerzenwachsresten kam. Deshalb möchte ich euch heute von meiner Kerzenwachsräumung berichten.
Es war ein sonniger Nachmittag, als ich mich auf den Weg zu einer Haushaltsauflösung machte. Die Luft war erfüllt von der Aufregung, verborgene Schätze zu entdecken und alten Gegenständen neues Leben zu verleihen. Als ich ankam, wurde ich herzlich von den Organisatoren begrüßt und durch das Haus geführt. Die Besitzerin des Hauses war eine freischaffende Künstlerin, und das ganze Haus war voller kreativer Überraschungen. Das Haus, entworfen von ihrem Mann, einem Ingenieur, versprach viel Platz und labyrinthartige Räume, in denen es überall etwas Neues zu entdecken gab.
During the tour, a friend asked me if there was anything in particular that I could use. Without thinking twice, I said: ‘Candles and leftover wax.’ I've always had a penchant for candles and loved moulding new candles from old wax scraps.
And that was the cue: everyone in the house swarmed out and collected the leftover candles. Whenever someone found some, they shouted loudly. The funny thing was that so many were found that everyone asked for a bag to collect them. It was a lot of fun and everyone was happy to find new candles and leftovers until we finally had four big bags full of candle wax and candles. LOL.
Während der Besichtigung fragte mich eine Bekannte, ob es etwas gäbe, das ich besonders gebrauchen könnte. Ohne lange nachzudenken, sagte ich: "Kerzen und Wachsreste." Ich hatte immer schon eine Vorliebe für Kerzen und liebte es, aus alten Wachsresten neue Kerzen zu gießen.
Und das war das Stichwort: Alle im Haus Anwesenden schwärmten aus und suchten die Kerzenreste zusammen. Immer wenn jemand welche gefunden hatte, rief er laut. Das Witzige daran war, dass so viele gefunden wurden, dass jeder eine Tüte verlangte, um sie zu sammeln. Es hat echt viel Spaß gemacht, und alle waren happy, wieder neue Kerzen und Reste zu finden, bis wir schließlich vier große Tüten voller Kerzenwachs und Kerzen zusammen hatten. LOL.
When I got home, I could hardly wait to start crafting. I laid out newspaper, melted the wax and carefully poured it into different moulds. Each candle told its own story and brought a piece of that special household resolution into my living space.
It was a really fun day, and thanks to the candle wax, there is enough to keep the candle glowing all year round.
Zuhause angekommen, konnte ich es kaum erwarten, mit dem Basteln zu beginnen. Ich legte Zeitungspapier aus, schmolz das Wachs und goss es vorsichtig in verschiedene Formen. Jede Kerze erzählte ihre eigene Geschichte und brachte ein Stück dieser besonderen Haushaltsauflösung in meinen Wohnraum.
Das war ein wirklich witziger Tag, und dem Kerzenwachs sei Dank gibt es genug, um das ganze Jahr immer einen feinen Kerzenschein leuchten zu lassen.
