It was August 10, 1986 and my sister and I were 10 years old: a beautiful coincidence because it was a day 10 and we were 10.
As you know, August is one of the hottest months in Cuba and one of the summer months.
One of the things I remember perfectly is that on that birthday we were all 6 siblings and we spent a very nice day. We didn't have luxuries or riches and we didn't have a big birthday as they say.
But, the love we had for each other, being all together, being able to enjoy our parents. Another thing that we enjoyed a lot was that this was the preparatory party for what would be the celebration of 15 springs.
That day, as he always used to do, our dad painted the house, my mom took care of the logistics of the birthday and we helped where we could. Although, as children and siblings at the end each one wanted to impose their criteria on how to celebrate the birthday, the people who should attend or the clothes we should wear.
In the end, our mother indicated the clothes we should wear and took care of inviting some of our little friends.
It was a simple, but special and unique day.
