Living Among Humans

IMG_6804.jpg

Hello Everyone.

We call them Burung Gereja. This bird lives in groups and is not so wild, its fur is brown almost all over its body. My guess is that the body is only about 14 centimeters because it is quite small compared to other bird species. This bird's chatter is so serene and lively that it makes me want to take a picture of its nest. Usually. These animals like places that are open like in buildings that are not that tall. But during the breeding season, these birds will prefer trees and make nests by weaving from grass.

The sparrow or the scientific name Passer domesticus is an animal that is easy to find and this bird belongs to the family Passeridae. Although this bird is quite wild, it is not afraid when we approach it. I approached to shoot at about 10 meters which made me feel very close. One thing that makes this bird very special is that every 20th of March is celebrated as a special day for this bird even in the whole world. I am looking forward to participating in World Sparrow Day.

Each bird has a different beak. Each shape of their beak can define their type of food. In general, birds like seeds and small insects, but some other types of birds also eat meat, such as eagles. This sparrow looks for food in the bushes or on the grass that is not tall because there are seeds available to eat.

During the breeding season, male birds sing more with the aim of attracting the attention of female birds and after the mating period, the female birds stay in the nest to wait for the eggs to hatch.

HISTORY OF WORLD SPARROW DAY

World Sparrow Day is an initiative started by the Nature Forever Society of India (founded by Mohammed Dilawar) along with the Eco-Sys Action Foundation of France and many other organizations around the world. Though the holiday carries the name Sparrow, it was mainly created for awareness of Sparrows but also includes the beauty and biodiversity of other common birds that may share the same space as us. nationaltoday
