Back in May, I went to Ennerdale Nature Reserve in the Lake District National Park, Cumbria for a university project on rewilding. Here as well as my university project I looked at the birds of freshwater lakes, upland heathland, and forest.
The Day's Visit

The weather was wet and misty up here in Ennerdale but that doesn't mean all the wildlife goes to sleep and I'm left with no birds to show you. Despite the slightly damp atmosphere things was quite lively.
Below: Common Sandpiper
I watched the Common Sandpiper signal with his wings, flashing his white armpits at passing birds. I don't know whether this is a mating display or signaling to other males to keep away, but it was interesting to watch.
